Eerie tale, well read

I'm walking the dog in broad daylight, listening to the book and when the narrator makes this sound - the sound of the antagonist's labored breathing - I stop, hunch up and start looking over my shoulder. Wonderfully eerie, adept job of narration with one of the best American accents I've heard from a British narrator. The book serves up some serious suspense, with an amazingly creepy scene (where a female character is infected with - oh wait - better not spoil the plot for you) that still disturbs me when I inadvertently remember it.

Brilliance worth every penny!

I will say it once and keep saying it again, Christian Coulson has absolutely ruined audiobooks for me! ❤
Suspenseful, mysterious, and thrilling, I cannot recommend this book quite high enough!

Wonderful English Ghost Story

An excellently woven tale, with rich characters that that keep one enthralled. As pleasurable as the story was I must admit that I would most certainly be happy listening to this reader reciting even my grocery list. I think the author and narrator a wonderful match.

I remember there used to be a way to edit reviews, but I forgot. or maybe things changed during an update for mobile. But anyway, this is why I am making a second review.

So, for my first review I said this story was dissapointing, but at that point, I had like 2 hours left of reading and felt like I'd seen enough. However, after getting to the end, I changed my mind. Honestly, Byron was a bastard and I hated him to the point I even began to root for the ghost in the end. I know there's never any justification for murder but I really felt bad for the shit the ghost went through. Anyway, I take back all I said the first time around (well, except the part about Byron/Andrew not being more interesting as characters).

Not recommended for adults

I don't recommended this book for anyone with a mental age above 13 who is not titillated by teen sex scenes and references to buggery. No suspense (ghosts are not scary when they have no subtlety), nothing very interesting about Byron, which is what I was hoping for. I couldn't maintain enough to interest to finish it. The reader is okay but I disagree with the first reviewer about his American accent. The "Southern" accent that the father speaks is just awful. His rendering of the son is better, but one has to wonder why the father is Southern and the boy isn't.
