Best-selling author Cameron C. Taylor masterfully weaves ancient Hawaiian history and culture into an inspiring and engaging story set on the beautiful island of Lanai. You will be transported to a tropical paradise for an adventure of a lifetime. As you visit sacred locations throughout the island, you will be taught by a Hawaiian kahuna the principles for joyful living. You will see why Hawaii is consistently ranked as the least stressed and happiest place in the world. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Hawaiian kahuna unfolds powerful insights into the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he illuminates a more excellent way - the way of Aloha, the way of Zion.

This book brings the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the simplicity we often miss in the Western World. Happiness and contentment is what God wants for us. Being able to see others not just as Christ sees them, but in fact as Christ changes the way you perceive everyone. God is Abundance. God is Light. This story can help you to realize you are already part of that abundance & Light. It's not about "someday we'll be in heaven," but rather be in heaven NOW.
The principles in this book are told in the way the Savior taught - Stories & Parables with a Hawaiian Twist.
I enjoyed the performance & emotion given to the characters, Especially Manu Napela.
I look forward to the next books in the series!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

The book is a short fictionalized account of the author's time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and learning about and incorporating Hawaiian history and culture to illustrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ into our daily lives.

The story is mostly a framing device for powerful parables and examples of how the people of Lanai live the gospel and how one helps illuminate the other. It is thought provoking and emotional.

Benjamin Fife brings the characters to life. Sometimes I forgot it was one person voicing both of the main characters.

The characters are both LDS Christians and a few LDS specific terms are thrown around but outside of quotes from modern day prophets I'd say mainstream Christians should be able to appreciate 90% of the teachings.

Potential Trigger Warning: There is a brief discussion of abuse that one character suffered in the past. It isn't graphic, it is handled tastefully and helps inform the character but if that is a trigger be fore-warned.

Combines best of Hawaii and LDS Christianity
