Story
The war was over except for the crew of the TSS Phoenix. Lost deep in enemy space, crippled but not dead. The odds of survival were stacked against them, but they were still determined to fight their way back toward allied space. On New Terra, Roy O’Hara had discovered peace for his spirit and joy in a simple life. Yet he had only fulfilled a portion of the Commander’s Prophecy. It told of a darkness that would fall on his new home from the stars, and he would be called upon once again to save them all.

After endless years of fighting in a galaxy-wide war, the most decorated super-soldier of the Old Federation was granted leave, sliding into a stasis tube aboard a sleeper ship. The ship never reached its port, and the soldier woke up a thousand years later on an operating table. The Old Federation was gone, most planets hurled back into the Stone Age. A devastated Earth used spies instead of spaceships to compete against the tougher, richer worlds.

Story
Imperial Intelligence couldn't find them, the Imperial Fleet couldn't catch them, and local defenses couldn't stop them. It seemed the planet-wrecking pirates were invincible. But they made a big mistake when they raided ex-commando leader Alicia DeVries' quiet home/work, tortured and murdered her family, and then left her for dead. Alicia decided to turn "pirate" herself, and stole a cutting-edge AI ship from the empire to start her vendetta. Her fellow veterans think she's gone crazy, the Imperial Fleet has shoot-on-sight orders. And, of course, the pirates want her dead, too.

Story
The war between the seven alien races of the Confederation and Earth heats up as the two come into direct conflict over the former Human Empire. The people or Earth are determined to free it, and the Confederation is determined to keep it under their strict control. Fleets meet in combat as the fate of worlds is decided. Earth is hopelessly outmatched as the Confederation controls thousands of inhabited planets.
By: Raymond L. Weil
Publisher's Summary
O'Hara never wanted to be a hero. He was a combat pilot only because his skills made him the best and Earth needed men like him to fight the enemy among the stars.
Living a life a service and duty, alone in a cockpit suited him well, but fate had other plans for him. Shot down over an alien planet he was saved by a beautiful and mysterious woman named Katreena.
He soon learns that the world is populated by people who seemed to have been lost by time and controlled by stones that the people believe to be divine magic.
Wanting only to return to his fleet, he discovers that he has more than a passing connection with the world's people, a love that resurrects a heart long thought dead, and a decisive battle to the war that followed him.

Good book bad narrator
"This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review."
I think this could have been a great book with dual narrators. I had the hardest time staying focused on the story the narrators voice had my mind wondering off the book. If there is a different narrator I will buy the second book

SciFi mixed with Fantasy
I haven't come across this sort of genre. I thought the author really did a good job and had me hooked from beginning to end. Looking forward to reading the others in this series.
There is no profanity or sexual content (happens behind closed doors) but there is some violence be warned. I would not recommend reading it whilst eating.
I would recommend it to those who like something different to read and of course those who love SciFi and Fantasy.

Intense Story and Enticing Narration!
This is a great story that really grabs you from the beginning. The author does a masterful job of creating intriguing characters. The plot is solid and kept me wanting to know what's going to happen next. The story is a good blend of action, romance, and general intrigue. Can't wait to check out the other books in the series!
The narration was fantastic at bringing the author's characters to life. There's distinction between all major characters and she really painted a vivid picture of each scene. She has a distinct voice that is easy to listen to for hours. I will have to check out her other work.

dry narration but a good story
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a good sci fi story that has a strong romance element. Thankfully, it is well balanced by sci fi and some action. The story, itself, is good. The narration, however, is dry and a bit boring. She injects very little emotion into her narration and doesn't really differintiate between character voices. She is just reading the book into a mic.

Interesting blend of science fiction and romance..
The Warrior's Stone is an interesting blend between science fiction, fantasy and romance. As with most books in the science fiction genre, the first part of the story involves much world-building and details. I struggled to maintain my interest during this portion of the book, but I was very happy that I did as the story progressed. All of that detail became integral to following this epic journey of both a man and a woman to healing and love and a galaxy-wide army to victory. With a nice mix of action scenes, character development scenes and romantic scenes between Roy O'Hara and Katreena, this story flowed so smoothly that I felt like I was watching it play out on film. The love between Roy and Katreena develops mostly through shared dreams, feelings and thoughts, which left me with the certainty that their love would overcome the differences in their worlds, their upbringing and their experiences.
Although she doesn't try to differentiate between characters and she doesn't use much emotion, Lily Sage has a pleasant voice, and her narration was flawless. She sounds like she is reading the story more than performing it, but I thought this understated delivery added to the science fiction/fantasy flavor of the book.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Great start to a new series
This story is a combination of Sci-Fi and Fantasy that is well blended into a a great story.
I felt the story was well written and engaging. Although this is the first book in a series, It is a complete story in itself other than the cliffhanger at the end that really sounded like an add on to tease the next book.
Did not care for the narration by Lily Sage. She did a reasonable job reading the story but it was just that, reading. There were several occasions where the period in her reading was in the wrong place. Meaning she would pause in the middle of a sentence like she reached the end of a line or page, then continue reading right past the period after the next word she read. I recognize this because I have done this when I read aloud. But I am not a professional reader selling my work.
She did manage some character distinction in her reading which helped make the performance acceptable. But this story is worthy of a better reader.
Will definitely be looking for the next book in the series.
