Publisher's Summary

There was once a velveteen rabbit, and in the beginning he was really splendid. He was fat and bunchy, as a rabbit should be; his coat was spotted brown and white, he had real thread whiskers, and his ears were lined with pink sateen. On Christmas morning, when he sat wedged in the top of the Boy's stocking, with a sprig of holly between his paws, the effect was charming.

There were other things in the stocking, nuts and oranges and a toy engine, and chocolate almonds and a clockwork mouse, but the Rabbit was quite the best of all. For at least two hours the Boy loved him, and then Aunts and Uncles came to dinner, and there was a great rustling of tissue paper and unwrapping of parcels, and in the excitement of looking at all the new presents the Velveteen Rabbit was forgotten.

For a long time he lived in the toy cupboard or on the nursery floor, and no one thought very much about him. He was naturally shy, and being only made of velveteen, some of the more expensive toys quite snubbed him.

A Classic

I loved this book when I was younger and was so happy to see Richard Armitage doing a reading. As he read, I could see the pictures in my storybook. A sad story, but a good memory. Great reading, Mr. Armitage has a lovely voice for children's stories.

Perfection

I absolutely adore this rendition of this beautiful and sweet classic 'tail '. This is a story I did not discover until I was an adult but it is so simple and timeless that it suits children of all ages. Additionally, Richard Armitage and his narration and character voicing are unsurpassed. His golden voice is perfect for this ageless story.

Keep the tissues handy!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I had never read this book before. It is wonderful to hear Richard's voice, as he uses it in such a tender way to perform the story. I cried my heart out. As a former Kindergarten teacher, I suggest that parents who have especially sensitive children wait until their child is older to introduce them to this story, as it has passages that might be difficult for them to hear without getting upset. I'm glad I purchased this title.

A heart-warming story of The Velveteen Rabbit

This is a short yet very well written and narrated heart-warming story of The Velveteen Rabbit, a plush toy that becomes real to a boy who plays with it and loves it, and then, the toy actually becomes a real rabbit. Beautifully written by Margery Williams. Kids will enjoy this story. Probably, a good bedtime story. Well narrated and performed by Richard Armitage.

Gorgeous

My son loved this book as a child but read it to himself, so I didn’t read it.
Now, aged 61, and moved by curiosity and a love of Richard Armitage’s readings, I let his dulcet tones do the honours.

What a wonderful, magical book. My old, worn and somewhat grumpy-looking Teddy looks happier now I ‘know’ what’s REALLY going on………

Life, love and self-love. Don't miss it.

"What is real?"
"Real isn't how you are made. It's a thing that happens to you when a child loves you for a long, long time."

A small story about realising what life is, of being loved and self love, and how it transforms us over time. ❤️

a lovely story read by a velvety voice

I was unfamiliar with the story until now. I played it for my 4yo, who usually are very fussy about which stories she will tolerate listening to, but there were no complaints from her on this one... especially after she fell asleep part way through the story. Richard Armitage has just the most soothing velvety voice that is both perfect for listening to in bed as well as bringing this classic story to life.
