Publisher's summary

To battle an ancient evil, the greatest weapon each hero will have is each other.

Hundreds of years ago, facing defeat, the witch Morgana sent monsters into the future to vanquish a humanity King Arthur wouldn’t be able to save. The king might have won the battle, but now, centuries later, a few chosen men will have to fight the war.

Merlin always hated being named after some mythological wizard. His dad had been obsessed with the magic man of King Arthur’s court before his untimely death - a loss that had sent Mel reeling in a downward spiral. He is ill-prepared, to say the least, for the outrageous claims of a proper English knight bent on overcoming evil.

Born a commoner, Lancelot was never supposed to be a knight in his own time. Never mind that now in a modern world, he is so woefully untrained to protect. Thrown into a battle centuries in the making, this flawed hero and a young man too used to battling monsters of the present day will have to come together in a last desperate fight to save humanity.

Can Mel and Lance defeat the greatest enemy the world has ever known?

Or, in the midst of fighting evil, will they discover the real threat has always been a shattered heart?

And what if the one fight they cannot ever hope to win is with themselves?

Interesting Take on Lancelot and Merlin

I liked this take on the old legend of King Arthur's court with brave noble knights, evil witches and killer monsters. I enjoyed following relationship develop between a lost young man with mystical destiny and 1500 year old knight with tragic past. I feel this story built a good foundation for the series and looking forward to next book in Guardians of Camelot series. Narrator did a great job with this story, but I love his voice so much that in my ears he can do no wrong.

Great fantasy!

The romantic aspect of the story was cute and the characters are so hot! It's not as gory as V's previous novels like the Enhanced series, but the story is still a ton of fun and I love how the magic and folklore is played out. I can't wait for more!

I need the next one NOW please 😁

Did the story keep me engaged: yes - from the first minute to the last
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: in a heartbeat

Story comment: Loved every second. The story has a good pace and a great twist on the classic legend, the characters are interesting, it has some fun and drama and more story than sex (which is what I prefer). I've listened to the whole thing over the course of a single day because I just didn't want to turn it off!.
This is an excellent start to a new series and I hope there are many many more to come.

Narrator comment: Greg Boudreaux can do no wrong (in my opinion). He grabs my attention from the opening sentence and enhances every emotion throughout the book. Overall an excellent audio experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Exciting and full of action

Wow, this was definitely an exciting spin on the legends of Camelot and Merlin. Knowing that they are going to lose, Merlin gives a handful of knights the opportunity to win the war sometime in the future but they would die now and lose half of their souls. Lancelot and several others agree and 1500 years later these knights are still looking for each other and their tresor, or other half. One night during a fight with the Ursus, Lance meets Mel and quickly realizes he must be a tresor. Once everything is safe, Lance takes Mel back to the knights headquarters. A lot of stuff is explained and we meet more of the Knights, all the while Mel and Lance are fighting their attraction to each other. There was a ton of action, plot twists and some surprising events. Greg Boudreaux did an incredible job bringing each knight to life and Mel's snarkiness. Loved it, and cant wait to jump into the second book.

Outstanding!

I absolutely loved everything about this book! The stories of King Arthur and his roundtable are some of my favorites and this was a spectacular take on the legend. The characters were easy to connect with and the storyline was engaging and held my attention from beginning to end. Also, this was my first narration by Greg Boudreaux but it definitely won't be my last!
