Nostalgia tastes like root beer, sweet and dark.

Teri is sinking in a morass of pain. Her dream of being a jockey was brutally shattered by an accident that left her broken in every way. Tired of worrying her family, she seeks out the comforts of her childhood - horses and stables and a sweet, blond boy. But the boy is grown now and so is she. Will Teri be able to remove the armor that's been holding her together long enough to find solace in the arms of an old friend?

A very touching novella

This is a great short Novella . I have listened to the first 3 in the series. Once I saw it was Seth’s story, it was great. This story is about Terri .
Terri don’t know what to do once she gets injured . Terri always wanted to be a great Jockey with her trusted horse . Terri thinks it ends once she gets injured, not only that but her mother is micromanaging .
It’s a great listen

The narrator Heather was good. Her voice was strong and smooth

A short, but emotionally charged story

A very short story, giving Teri's outlook, after her accident as a jockey, whilst racing.
We experience her angst at her mother over protective attitude. Teri had experienced a degree of freedom, prior to being injured but feels smothered currently. Only one person seems to understand her and therefore it to him, she reaches out.
Ms Garzon has a wonderful way of being able to put a person's situation and emotional temperament on paper, so you can see life from that person's perspective. The audio rendition only adds to that experience, by adding a voice to the character, making them even more 3 dimensional.

Short Companion Story

What a fun gem. This book picks up after Blaze of Glory and Halo Boy are both finished. Terri was Tia's best friend and a jockey in Canada. She was hurt in a devastating accident and is home to recover and figure out what she wants to do now. Friendship blooms into something more and is so sweet. M. Garzon wrote this book with great insight and realistic reactions. Terri and Seth have a turning point in their relationship.

The narration of this particular book by Heather S Auden, didn't sound like a typical 19 year old. There was nothing wrong with her performance, just not my mental image of Terri.
