Publisher's summary

Dear Lady Truelove,

I am a girl of noble family, but I am painfully shy, especially in my encounters with those of the opposite sex....

For Clara Deverill, standing in for the real Lady Truelove means dispensing advice on problems she herself has never managed to overcome. There’s nothing for it but to retreat to a tearoom and hope inspiration strikes between scones. It doesn’t - until Clara overhears a rake waxing eloquent on the art of “honorable” jilting. The cad may look like an Adonis, but he’s about to find himself on the wrong side of Lady Truelove.

Rex Galbraith is an heir with no plans to produce a spare. He flirts with the minimum number of eligible young ladies to humor his matchmaking aunt, but Clara is the first to ever catch his roving eye. When he realizes Clara - as Lady Truelove - has used his advice as newspaper fodder, he’s infuriated. But when he’s forced into a secret alliance with her, he realizes he’s got a much bigger problem - because Clara is upending everything Rex thought he knew about women - and about himself....

Awesome!!

This may be my favorite in the Lady Truelove series! I listened to this book in one sitting. I never took my earbuds out that's how good it was.

Clara is quick, sweet, smart, funny, and has a subtle beauty that Rex notices almost right away. I loved that he sees her when no one else does. He doesn't know it at the time but she is already acquainted with him because she overheard a conversation he had with his friend. During this conversation, he advises his friend how to keep his bed partner in his bed but not expecting him to marry her. Clara is appalled and I was as well. I wondered how I was going to like Rex after hearing his manipulating advice. He further angered me when he blamed her for his advice backfiring on his friend who is now angry at Rex. He took very little ownership for his part in the debacle which irritated me further.

But the reader slowly finds out that Rex has a big heart and he loves people completely, with faults and all. His devotion to his mother is an example. Clara and Rex develop a true friendship and their attraction grows as their friendship and mutual understanding of each other grows.

As for the narration, I know Justine Eyre can be a little controversial because people find her accents poorly done. She doesn't bother me at all and she doesn't bother me in this book either. I like the feeling and emotion she reads with and all the characters have distinct voices. If her accent isn't as clean or as perfect an English born reader, I'm ok with it.

Good book I enjoyed it.

So this was a good book. I was a little bummed out by the narrator change from Carolyn Morris to Justine Erye :(

The story line and plot was good. Clara had to run her sisters newspaper with no experience, I liked how she was working through that. I really enjoyed Clara, she was smart, funny and witty. Rex was great too and not the rogue he portrays himself to be. They had some great chemistry together.

There was some great dialogue between them. However, there was also a lot of internal dialogue going on that could have been left out. Other than that and the narrator change I don't have any complaints.

As for the narration, Justine Eyre does a good job, she is not the best but not the worst. Sometimes it sounds like she has serious dry mouth, but the men sound like men and she does give everyone a voice.

Worth it

This one, wow! It is well worth a credit! I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat, fingernail biting, sighing and swooning! The chemistry, romance, and dialogue makes it a winner for me.

Good story

Another good story by this author and Justine Eyre performs well as usual. This book seemed to be LOADED with dialog which forced me to take more breaks and go to another story at times. Hoping next in series doesn’t have so much, but will endeavor to find out nonetheless.

Needed more relationship development

Too much filler...not enough time spent developing the relationship between the characters. All the books in the series are basically the same exact outline...just slightly different characters and slightly different circumstances.

That being said...they are a mindless easy listen and pleasant..just not one you will remember for all time.

I gave each book the same review... because as I said earlier they are all so similar and have the same issues.

Each book would have been much better if the relationship was the focal point of story development. Seems each book had the H & H spending 70% of their time with other characters doing other things. It just felt like the relationships were forced to work....not allowed to grow naturally.

3 out of 5...

Nice story, good flow

I rarely give romance books five stars, this is an exception. On The heels of the first in this series, I expected a little bit of a disappointment after the lovely first book in the series. I was wrong, this was a pleasant book which flowed along nicely, and did not have an annoyingly self-pitying heroin. The way the characters progressed, and were likable, made you want to really see them get together. I will seek out this author again.

I REALLY REALLY LIKED THIS SERIES!!!

The first book was really good but I liked the second even better - I love Rex being Truelove.. I thought perhaps they could have done a "He said/She said" advice column. Rexs' view vs Clara's- but then I heard Rex's column, and thought, oh he is good at this!! If he showed up at my house 3 times a week, I don't think I could have turned him away - lol !!

Wish the narrator from book 1 was still the narrator

I liked this book but unfortunately the narrator is not as good as the one that read book one. It’s still a good story and I still recommend it but it would be made even better if the narrator was from

Witty and Romantic

This book propels you to continue to read. it was just as exhilarating as book 1 and I am now moving into the 3rd book in less than a week! Excellent writing that's hold the attention of the reader.
