Publisher's summary

It's 1994, and the unexpected events of summer promise to be as hot as the heat itself in Chatham, New Mexico, for identical twin brothers Ransom and Harley Lawson. One is being groomed to lead by birthright in the Immortals MC while the other will challenge that generations-old rule for the greater good and survival of the club and their brotherhood.

Inseparable since birth, the brothers have never let anything or anyone come between them until a returning ex-con club member and the arrival of a beautiful stranger cause their worlds to shift and their priorities right along with them.

Fed up with her grandfather's autocratic behavior, 18-year-old Willamina "Billy" Stanton rebels and flees from Santa Barbara. She heads to Chatham in the hopes of finally meeting her estranged father when she stumbles into Immortals territory and into the arms of a lethal, green-eyed biker.

For Ransom, she is everything his 22-year-old heart will ever desire, even more than the title of "Prez". However, his loyalty to Harley and the club come first - a fact that he's continuously reminded of as his twin embarks on a dangerous path....

Contains mature themes.

So...

Spoilers below......
so everything was going good and I didn’t even know how they “broke up” other than she told him she loved him and he didn’t respond with I love you too but instead said you’re mine. Really need the next book to make it make sense , it ends on a cliff hanger but I don’t mind I’m excited to see where it goes. Overall, it was enjoyable even though there’s some heavy subject matter.

Interesting writing style?

So, I don't know how to feel about this author's writing style. I listen to the audibles while I'm working. This is not the 1st book I've read/listen to by this author but when listening and I don't know if it's written this way, however listening to one person's thoughts then transition to another's in what seems like a paragraph constantly throws me off especially when written in the she/they/them context instead of I/me/my format. I don't mind it, but if there's an inner dialogue from one person that's progressing and in the next beat the other person is mentally evaluating thoughts in the same chapter back and forth, it's enough to give someone whiplash! Not to mention, every side person has got their own back story in these books and takes up too much of the story and takes the focus off the main characters. I would love to hear these in maybe duet audibles, I mean there's already a male and female narrator.

Otherwise, I believe every book I've read from this author the storylines are great and very detailed. It's just the flow seems and amount of characters are all over the place and times.

I've read all of these a thrilling ride. Hopefully we will not need to wait a year or more for 2 and 3.

I really didn't expect that ending 😳

I really enjoyed this one. No spoilers...I just wasn't really expecting a cliffhanger but that's what I got. Guess I'll have a wait until the next one comes out to see the drama unfold because it's coming! That doggone Harley 🤬.

Good Read

I enjoyed this read from start to finish. The narration was good except when Spanish is spoken and the story is good. I will continue the series on Kindle.
Billie is a strong and confident young woman who's mother raised her to be that way. Billie did what was hard when she didn't get what she needed from her lover, not every woman is strong enough to do that while continuing grieving for the loss of her Moma. Her Moma left her in a state where she didn't need anyone.
Ransome is a strong young man who knew his mind at a young age and caught on to what he needed to be or how he needed to be to survive his upbringing. He sees that something is very wrong with his brother but to me he does not try as well as he should to help. Their Moma who is Latina is tired of the dad's ways, he has stepped out on her and she is sick and tired of being sick and tired. She holds resentment towards the dad but I think she needs to be kicking herself cause she stood by and watched it happen.
The second book should be really good cause it ramped up at the end of this one and there are multiple parts to this story.

Whew! The ending got me!

I love how clever D. A. Young is with her writing style. This book was what I needed: a little thrill, sexiness, and great story line! Keep them coming!

Wow!

This is my first book by this author and she has me hooked. The end left my mouth wide open. I'm literally afraid of what could happen, but want to know at the same time. It's like watching a movie with your hands over your eyes. You don't want to see, afraid of what's going to happen, but peek because you have to know. And THAT makes for a fantastic book. Starting part 2 now!
