A Nebula Award-nominee from the Hugo Award-winning author of The Man in the High Castle, Philip K. Dick's The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch explores the desolation of the minds, souls, and hearts of colonists on Mars in “a psychedelic odyssey of hallucinations-within-hallucinations from which no reader emerges unscathed” (Boston Globe).

On Mars, the harsh climate could make any colonist turn to drugs to escape a dead-end existence. Especially when the drug is Can-D, which translates its users into the idyllic world of a Barbie-esque character named Perky Pat. When the mysterious Palmer Eldritch arrives with a new drug called Chew-Z, he offers a more addictive experience, one that might bring the user closer to God. But in a world where everyone is tripping, no promises can be taken at face value.

The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch is one of Philip K. Dick’s enduring classics, at once a deep character study, a dark mystery, and a tightrope walk along the edge of reality and illusion.

P K Dick had his mind in tune with the future of man kind and the future of electronic and the use of precognitive technology. As I listen and read along some of the story is blowing my mind..

precognitive Barney Mayerson is often in consult with Palmer Eldritch as he returns to Earth with a new drug and it is taking hold. The new drug is called Chew-z and is replacing Can-d .
People thrive on drugs like can-d and chew-z as an escape because of collapsing society and climate changes. And news from homeopape (which is a personalized, interactive, and constantly updating digital newspaper or news-giving device. ) provides the news from corporate figures like Leo Bulero or the activities of Palmer Eldritch.

The Earth is all but uninhabitable as it is always summer and the temperature skyrockets daily. People has chosen the hallucinogenic drugs available to them such as Chew-z which is brought to Earth by Palmer Eldritch a powerful figure who returns from deep space with Chew-Z, a superior drug that threatens the established market.

Only this drug is causing recurring, grotesque physical traits and hallucinations. Metal teeth, robotic hand, mechanical eyes are the hallucinations of Palmer Eldritch .

Dick had a brilliant mind as he often explored the dangers of seeking ultimate escape through technology and drugs.
I loved this book.

What trippy book
