What am I?

Who killed my family?

Why?

I need to get some answers before the Russian mob succeeds in killing me.

That is, if my own friends don't kill me first.

A Very Pleasant Surprise!

I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by “The Thought Pushers”. I had so many questions at the end of “The Thought Readers” that I wasn’t sure where the authors were going to go with the sequel, but I was looking forward to finding out.

“The Thought Pushers” does a great job of building on events in “The Thought Readers” as Darren’s story continues. We get to ride along with Darren as he continues to discover more about who and what he is, the world he is a part of, who is family really is, and so much more. The plot twists keep coming and keep you guessing what’s going to be around the next corner. And of course, there is the complicated relationship with Mira, who can do a complete 180 if the wrong thing is said or even implied. The authors did a great job with continuing to develop the characters into people I cared more and more about as the story went on, and the story kept drawing me further into it.

The nicest surprise for me was the quality of the narration. I wasn’t very impressed with Roberto Scarlato’s narration of “The Thought Readers”, but this time around I thought he did a really nice job. There seemed to be more emotion in his voice, which is a characteristic that significantly contributes to keeping me interested in the story and the characters.

I give “The Thought Pushers” a definite 2 thumbs up! And now I’m really looking forward to the third installment of this series as well as the offshoot, “The Time Stopper”.

A thoroughly entertaining sequel

(Spoiler Free!)

After being pleasantly surprised by the quality of 'The Thought Readers', i was eager to dive into the sequel. The book is a direct continuation of events from the previous 'The Thought Readers', so I highly recommend reading it before this one.

The story concentrates on Darren's supernatural abilities once again, as he searches for clues about his past, the fate of his parents and what it means to be a Pusher. Considering the events of the first book, I actually found 'The Though Pushers' highly entertaining. This is the hallmark of a good sequel, as it builds upon events from the previous book, while fleshing out familiar characters and at the same time introducing new ones.

Speaking of characters, the protagonist - Darren - continues to be a relatable and interesting lead character. His complicated relationship with love interest Mira was also a great narrative hook for me, as i wanted to see where it could go.

As for the Narrator (Robert Scarlato), he does a fantastic job of giving the characters life and personality. It made listening a very entertaining experience.

If you are a fan of supernatural fiction with a riveting storyline, then this is the book for you. Just do yourself a favour and read the first book to give you the full experience.

The Mind Dimensions never cease to impress

Would you listen to The Thought Pushers again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to the book again. But I couldn't decide which one is better. I don't think that one is better than the other. Both have their pro's and con's. Although I like some characteristics of listening the book like for example different impersonations from the narrator. He gives them life and I really like that. So as a personal a personal preference I would stick with the audio edition.

What did you like best about this story?

Darren all the time. I love all he has to go through and he knows how to deal with things like no one other. His personality is intriguing and I like that mysticism that revolves around him.

What about Roberto Scarlato’s performance did you like?

He brought action, drama, emotions and a well representation of each character. If I would just read the book, of course I would enjoy it also, there was an awesome cliff hanger from book 1 which will bring me those emotions I experienced. But Roberto Scarlato brings to life my imagination of how the story unfolds.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely, I've been always so interested in this kind of science fiction so I enjoy these listenings and readings on a weekend free of my duties, with some headphones and I transport to these realities provided by these kind of books.

Any additional comments?

I've been intrigued now with the book 0 which gives us an insight of Mira's life from what can I see about the description, I think is going to be a complementary listening for this amazing story by Dima Zales & Anna Zaires. And last but not least, if there's going to be a sequel, please make it come faster!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Thought Pushers to be better than the print version?

I liked both, be it audio version or the printed one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course it's Darren! Darren is my favorite character, he is strong, powerful and intense!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Another great book in the series. An invorgotating reimagining of the time-stopping trope with solid characters and high stakes.

Good story but ...

What made the experience of listening to The Thought Pushers the most enjoyable?

The story was good and interesting

What didn’t you like about Roberto Scarlato’s performance?

I did not like his performance, that was the worst part of the book. It is hard to describe why it was irritating but it was almost like he spoke with a "swager" or was a talking crooner. It got to be far less irritating about mid way through the book probably because I just got more used to it.

Any additional comments?

The story had a number situations where the person could have used their abilities to avoid problems. Examples include a time when someone was shot and another when someone was in the hospital.

Any additional comments?

After I have finished The Thought Readers, I was looking forward to the next installment, The Thought Pushers and when I finally got my hands on this one, I was so ecstatic to read it right away! Authors, Dima Zales and Anna Zaires, writes with a persuasive pen that will pull you deep into the story. From the first page, the readers get thrusted into the continuation of Darren's exploits with secrets unfolding page after page. Finally, he finds out his true identity– him not only being a reader, but a pusher at the same time; finding out that his shrink is a guide(less harsh term for a pusher); learning that he has an aunt and that pushers are not really their enemies like what Mira and Eugene believes. Darren also learns that the real killers of Mira and Eugene's, as well as his parents are not who they think. I don't want to give away too much info regarding the twists so it's up to you to find out! Get this book now! You can thank me later.

Amazing story, bad narration

I cannot recommend this series as a whole to anyone that enjoys sci-fi, superpowers, or just good books in general. This is my third time listening through them, and I still get excited by the story. Which is all the more impressive, given the downside.

I really want to give it five stars, but the narrator really takes away from the experience. The way he reads reminds me of a child trying to sound out words they aren’t familiar with. It’s not terrible enough to totally ruin it, but he constantly emphasises the wrong word in the sentence, or takes a pause in a place that doesn’t makes sense, and it can really take you out of the story.
