I turned on the light, but there was nobody there. Then I saw something in the corner that made my blood turn cold. Scudder was lying on his back. There was a long knife through his heart, pinning him to the floor.’ Soon Richard Hannay is running for his life across the hills of Scotland. The police are chasing him for a murder he did not do, and another, more dangerous enemy is chasing him as well - the mysterious ’Black Stone’. Who are these people? And why do they want Hannay dead? An Oxford Bookworms Library reader for learners of English, adapted from the John Buchan original by Nick Bullard.

Critic reviews

"The most consistent of all series in terms of language control, length, and quality of storytelling." (David R Hill, ELT Journal Review)

I've gradually started listening to more and more audio on my kindle, however the one caveat is that a kindle does not have a sleep timer like an ipod. So, I've been on the hunt for short books like this that won't be a problem if i fall asleep listening to at night, as I can pretty much find my place the next day. I like this book not only for its length, but the narration was very clean and crisp. I enjoyed it and felt worth reading. I look forward to getting more books in this series.
