Publisher's summary

If love is a battlefield, theirs was a 30-year war.

Philip Granger was that boy. The one who blew spitballs in her hair, stole her valentines, glued her sneakers to the floor, and called her Matchstick. But somehow, when Jillian wasn’t paying attention, the guy she pretended didn’t exist turned into a wickedly handsome man who was hard to ignore.

Jillian Donley was that girl. As pretty as a picture, popular, way out of his league, and he was reasonably sure she hated him. But after years of trying to gain her attention, Phillip finally decided he didn’t care anymore. That was until the stunning woman noticed him.

What happens when two stubborn hearts go head-to-head, each refusing to be the first to wave the white flag of surrender? Well, let’s just say things will get interesting for the quiet little town of Cedar Point.

Love visiting Cedar Point!

This town is one of my all time favorite places to visit. DL Lane has crafted stories that I find myself absorbed, getting to know the characters, understanding their feelings and falling in love. This one is a slow build, from childhood to mature adult and it's fabulous. Phillip first meets "Little Red" as a young child, but is instantly taken with her. As years go by, his childlike love turns into much more, but she doesn't see him as such. Now years later, with experiences and life under their belt, they have once again found each other. The question is, where will it lead and how will their circumstances effect the outcome? Lane has masterfully intertwined the past and the present in every other chapter, giving us a good understanding of how their relationships have evolved into where they are today. This is a beautiful romance, a little angsty, a little sad at times and a look at how life sometimes takes us down paths to lead us where we belong. Loved this installment of the series!

Eric Bryan Moore. Enough good things cannot be said about this narrator. He is meticulous when it comes to his craft, understanding his characters and giving them the best voice and personality to make them real. There are a good amount of secondary characters in this too, each having a distinct voice that matches their role. He is amazing, and I will one click his books every time.

Not what I expected

Not what I expected, but in a good way! This is what I’d consider “the long game”. It wasn’t a quickie instalove story. It had a lot of depth and heart. I’m used to more spice and this is fade-to-black, but it was so sweet. These two wait ones so long for their HEA and their journey brought a smile to my face.

A good one!

This is a good story. It is my first in the Cedar Point stories as it is with this author. The story is well written and moves along well. My only issue is the back and forth between past and present. These are not really my types of stories because I feel it interrupts the flow. The characters are wonderful themselves. They have great personalities as well as a few secrets. I enjoyed seeing everything come out into the open and seeing how it all played out.

I did listen to this on audio. Eric Bryan Moore is the narrator and he did an excellent job! He is new to me and as the story moved along I forgot there was not two narrators. He made the story very enjoyable.

Emotional

D.L. Lane has written a poignant emotional story of life, love, and uncertainties throughout Philip's and Jillian's life.
I love how she wrote about their pasts in every other chapter.
It's written in a way that is not confusing and doesn't take away from the story. In fact, it gives the indepth emotions that haunt them both from childhood through adulthood.
There's challenges, disappointments, happiness and romance. I laughed, and cried, and called them idiots. They both ignored their chances for happiness, when wrong decisions were made.
Eric Bryan Moore narration is very good. He brought the all emotions and personalities for each character to perfection.
I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review.

Absolutely wonderful

I adore this series, and I swear each book out shines the last. D.L. Lane has the ability to pull you into her stories and give you all the feels. And Eric Bryan Moore never disappoints with his performance. The two of them are the perfect author/narrator team. I hope Jillian and Phillip's story isn't the last of Cedar Point. Fingers crossed the author gives us more wonderful characters from this small town.

A Must Listen

This author has a way of drawing you in with stories that have substance, making you laugh, bring tears to you eyes and give us the reality of the bad choices people make, mistakes, heartache, love, and second chances that end up with happy endings. And the narrator did a bang up job with the narration and the emotions. Great job!
