The emotion in the story evaporates

In the original story, the narrative is told through a letter written by the captain of the submarine. In this adaptation, they added a character who, in my opinion, feels too far removed from the original narrative. This character disrupts the flow of the story, and as a result,The emotion in the story evaporates
