Publisher's Summary

When Claudette McPhearson died, she left eight foster children to fend for themselves after they discovered the truth about her secret life. She was the leader of the Syndicate, a criminal enterprise that had a stronghold on the underworld. Much to her children's chagrin, it was up to one of them to step up and take the lead.

Javon, her oldest and most trusted son, took on that mantle. It was a role he had never wanted, but with threats to his family coming from every direction, he had no choice. One year later, Javon has taken the Syndicate to the next level. Javon seems untouchable, and the Syndicate can't be stopped, but as it grows, it draws attention. This time, it's from the Commission, the ruling body of the world's most dangerous mafias.

"You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" comes into play as the Old Italian needs Javon's help. The Commission has been threatened, and they call on the Syndicate for reinforcements. The Syndicate aims to help its allies, but the past comes knocking at the McPhearsons' door. With everything coming full circle, Javon will find that not everyone can be trusted, and ghosts from the past always have a way of coming back to haunt you.

Love the performance! story wasn't great.

I loved the performance, as I've growned to appreciate books with multiple readers, in fact this series introduces ed me to that, I just thought the story was a little predictable, and cartoonish at times.

good listen

i loved everything except the voice of lucky. i didnt know if the accent was supposed to be of a new Yorker , a Spanish male or what and please dont let him do a woman's voice again! he sounded like what harriet Tubman would've sounded like freeing the slaves 🤦🏾‍♀️ I cringed every time a lucky chapter played. Paula jai was a great addition as mama claudette!

This Series is not a Good Read

Please don't waste your time or your credits. First of all there are way too many characters and the storyline is all over the place. I purchased all 3 books at the same time hoping for a good series only to be highly disappointed. Secondly, in the 3rd book, the narrators, the same narrators from the first 2 books, began pronouncing the names of several of the characters differenlty than they did in the previous 2 books. I have a good mind to ask for all 3 of my credits back.

I am so in love with this family

Faults and all I love the way this family fell into place the people they’ve become especially jojo and Chanel a real couple. I love the way they continued to raise their siblings and how they all have each other’s backs and fight together. This book feels like it was much shorter than the others but as always I’m lookIng forward to the next installment.
