Publisher's summary

Top-secret data has been stolen from the CIA, and the only man who knows its hiding place is dead. CIA operative Mitch Rapp must race to find the classified information in this blistering novel that picks up where The Last Man left off in Vince Flynn's New York Times best-selling series.

Joseph "Rick" Rickman, former boy wonder at the CIA, stole a massive amount of top-secret and hugely compromising intel concerning classified operations all over the world, offering it (and himself) to the Pakistani secret forces. Only his plans went awry when CIA director Irene Kennedy sent Mitch Rapp to hunt him down. It turns out that killing Rickman didn't solve anything - in fact the nightmare is only intensifying. Rickman stored the potentially devastating data (CIA assets, operatives, agents) somewhere only he knew, and somehow, from beyond the grave, he still poses a mortal threat to America.

Now it's a deadly race as both the Pakistanis and the Americans search for Rickman's accomplices and the information they are slowly leaking to the world. Will Rapp outrun and outthink his enemies, or will the Pakistanis find it first and hold America hostage to their dream of becoming the world's new nuclear superpower?

Vince Flynn would be proud of this book

The Survivor lives up to the incredibly high standards Vince Flynn set beginning with Term Limits and continued through his 13 Mitch Rapp novels. Vince Flynn has been my favorite modern author from the time I first read Term Limits in 1999. I've read and reread all of his books. I've also read Kyle Mills' books which are quite good but not Vince Flynn good, I.and was disappointed when he was selected to continue the Mitch Rapp series. Based on The Survivor I was wrong because Mills nailed Vince Flynn's characters and style in The Survivor.

Vince Flynn was the favorite author of Bill Clinton and George W Bush. The latter said Flynn, through his research, probably knew more about the US military and covert agencies and their weapons and secrets than any other civilian. He did his research. Flynn was also a great patriot.

The Survivor brings back not just Mitch Rapp but a number of familiar Flynn characters such as Irene Kennedy, Stan Hurley, Scott Coleman, Jack Warch, Charlie Wicker, bad guy Louis Gould who killed Rapp's wife Anna Reilly in an earlier book, and Senator Barbara Lonsdale. The nature of the characters including Mitch Rapp is just the same as Vince Flynn created them. (Two of the characters, Irene Kennedy and Scott Coleman, played major roles in Term Limits which was written by Flynn before the Mitch Rapp character was created.)

The plot line and the plot complexity as well as the action and suspense were all true to Vince Flynn. Congratulations and thanks to Kyle Mills for a superb book!

Narration is by George Guidall, who narrated most of the audiobook versions of Vince Flynn novels. The narration, like the novel, is outstanding. Guidall is the voice of Mitch Rapp and certainly Stan Hurley also. Guidall has an interesting 7 minute discussion after the end of the book.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Survivor without reservation. I love this book!

This sure reads like Vince Flynn!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If they like the Mitch Rapp series, or this genre then without question.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all of the Mitch Rapp books and with the exception of three of them the remaining are read by George Guidall. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE as always.

Any additional comments?

I began listening with trepidation but quickly dismissed those feelings. If I didn't know better I would have thought this was written by Vince Flynn. There are other reviews that summarized the book and I won't bore anyone with my interpretation. I would like to compliment the author on his ability to continue the series with out it having a counterfeit feel. The book was GREAT, the story THRILLING with so many complexities, inner turmoil, action and more. I really like that characters from previous and even early books were included (Jack Warsh sp?) it gave this book a feel of continuity.
EXCELLENT, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

One of the best, if not THE BEST Rapp book ever!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! The book is fast paced, with several fantastic plot twists along the way. Kyle Mills absolutely nailed it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Survivor?

So many, but if I had to pick just one, Id say the part when Rapp says "I don't almost kill people Irene, I either do, or I don't"

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

Mitch Rapp followed closely by Scott Coleman

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Almost got a little choked up reading Vinces last chapter, the rest of the book had me sitting on the edge of the couch for hours on end..

Any additional comments?

I started the Flynn series about two years ago, on a recommendation from a friend. I started with American Assassin, and by about mid book, I was hooked! I couldn't get enough. I stormed through the first 4-5 books in the series, when I decided one day to do a little reading on the author himself, Me Flynn. Needless to say, I was shocked, when I read that Vince had passed recently. I was sad for several reasons, but one of the reasons was that I was now reading a series that was like an hour glass, with a finite ending. My hope that I could read a new Rapp book every year for the next _____years was gone. Until it wasn't......

When I heard that Vince's family had agreed with Kyle Mills to continue the series, I didn't know much about him. But I was still skeptical. Since I finished the Rapp series, I have tried author after author, series after series, and NONE of them, keep me as enthralled and on the edge of my seat, they way Vince did. So you can see why I was skeptical. Yes I was excited, but my expectations were tepid.

Getting to Survivor, I entered a contest to win an advanced readers edition. Lucky for me, I was selected. Nit long after, the book arrived, and still, I was skeptical. So much so, I was actually hesitant to start the book. I wasn't sure would I'd do if I got into the book and it veered off of Vince's path. Finally, on a long business trip, I decided to take the plunge. Not long into the book, I became annoyed with myself that I waited so long (two weeks or so). Reason being, THE BOOK IS FANTASTIC! Kyle Mills absolutely nailed it. Personally, if you'd have taken his name off the cover, I would have thought Vince wrote the book. It's that good. I will say in all sincerity, Survivor is in my top 3 favorites of the series, and as time goes by, it might actually be my all time favorite! So do yourself a favor and go get this book, you will be amazed!

Well done Mr Mills, well done. RIP Vince

EXCELLENT!

When Vince died I felt like I'd lost a old friend. It was wonderful to hear Mitch Rapp and crew were back in action. The book has continuity with the past novels and a great modern day plot. Having George Guidall tell the story made the transition seamless. Kudos to Kyle. Well done!

Seamless Mitch Rapp truly honors the Vince Flynn l

What did you love best about The Survivor?

The story line is extremely well developed including the background on the events and characters leading up to the beginning of this book. The personalities of the characters were seamless from the series, and with ALL honor and respect to Vince Flynn (RIP), Kyle Mills truly embraced the nature of the core of each of the characters that have been so well developed over the course of this series.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read the book first, and then enjoyed allowing Mr.Guidall bringing my friends (and enemies) back to life for me. With all of the recent discussion surrounding which actors would be best suited for a movie, I will find it difficult to hear any other voice than Guidall's for Mitch Rapp.

When I listen to Mr. Guidall narration I truly believe that he embraces the adventure every bit as much as the listener.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Attack America & her patriots? We've got a guy!

Very good job by Mills

I am a diehard Rapp fan. I've probably gone through each of his books no less than 15 times. There's a subtle difference in Mill's continuation of the story--and that's ok. He's not Flynn and I didn't expect him to be. What I expected was a good and responsible continuation of one of my favorite stories and characters. Mills pulled it off. I recommend this book and look forward to the next installment.

A bit slower than usual!

I have listen to all of he Mitch Rapp books.
I find this one lacking in excitement . Mitch is becoming , alas, a politically correct assain.
Far to much history on The characters. Of course I want to know who the characters are and what about them but this time he just gone off the chart. I hope the next one is good it's back to Mitch taking care of business for the good guys one way or the other without all the worthless repertoire.

The best book of the year!

As someone that was lucky enough to receive the opportunity to get to read The Survivor. Before the release date I can tell you that it is Great you forget that it isn’t Vince writing it. Kyle Mills does a great job of keeping Rapp and Vince‘s memories alive. The minute that I finished I pre-ordered the audio version of it. Lots of twist and turns great action keeps you hooked all the way through..

Ugh!

I, absolutely, could not get my head around this book. It didn't flow from scene to scene. I had to restart the book at least three times and found myself backing up a chapter or two at a time trying to refocus on the story line or characters! I was just glad when I finally finished it so I could move on to another book.

Kyle Mills hits BULLSEYE in Mitch Rapp series!!

As always, excellent narration by George Guidall is essential in portrayal of Mitch Rapp, my counter-terrorism hero. The plot flows clear and smoothly from start to finish. I enjoyed the backdrop of politics in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the USA. Very interesting how the money flows from us, the US taxpayer, to other countries to fight terrorism but is often used to arm terrorist, who create more fear of terror, thereby creating continued justification for counter-terrorism funding from us the US taxpayer. It's complicated yet fascinating. Surprisingly, over time, there is hope. The ending was well crafted with surprises and a satisfying conclusion. I listened twice before writing this review so I could better appreciate the geopolitics as well as the special op's action. Highly recommended if you love counter-terrorism. I have listened to every one of the Mitch Rapp series narrated by Vince Flynn. It is my most prized collection of a "series".
