The incredible conclusion to the record-breaking triple Hugo award-winning trilogy that began with the The Fifth Season.

The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women.

Essun has inherited the phenomenal power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every outcast child can grow up safe.

For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: that sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

Difficult and amazing

A unique story - trilogy - with a world and beings both so like us yet so unlike us. Somewhat mesmerising.

My first audio book experience. Wonderfully read and interpreted.

Loved fifth season but not the sequels as much

This final part I felt a little disappointed about. There was not much going on in this book. Found myself mostly wanting it to end since I've come this far and can't Not finish it

Expected a lot more after the first two parts

Endless musings and rather childish descriptions trying to describe a distant past. Trilogy going out with a snore.

Top level story telling.

N K Jemisin's characters are complex and emotionally raw. The epic storyline reaches raw emotional depths rare in such fantasy series.
The literary mastery of this series puts Jemisin on a level with the likes of Ursula LeGuin, Doris Lessing and Octavia E Butler. I am eagerly awaiting her next work.
The narrator did an excellent job on almost all of the characters, though Shaffa's accent slipped and slid somewhat between Scottish and other Rural British accents, it wasn't overwhelmingly distracting. Her voice and delivery was so delightfully smooth that it was a pleasure to listen to.

A great series

I found this series almost by chance, while looking for a book to listen to on a long business trip. And what a find it was! A very innovative setting, characters I immediately feel in love with, and am innovative choice of second person narrator. Highly recommended!

Best Books I've Read in Years

This entire trilogy was such a joy to read, even if it was quite dark in theme. Was so refreshing to have a true adult, fantasy/scfi storyline that didn't shy away from heavier topics. I was completely emersed until the very end. Best books I've picked up in many years

Dull narration and weird perspective

Dull narration and the weird second-person perspective makes the listener lose consentration of the plot. Don't recommend, at least in audiobook form.

Incredible!

Just phenomenal stuff, the characters are immense, the world building rich and hugely detailed. Just sad I've reached the end. I look forward to sharing with my Daughters when they're a little older.

Great Series!

Listened to nine hours of this book over two days. Fascinated about how it was going to end! Really enjoyed the series! Found this book slightly slower than the first two.

Fabulous story, fabulous narration

I just listened to all three books of the trilogy back-to-back and it was a wonderful time. I’m sad it’s over.

Very good and not what I expected

I think this is the best written of the trilogy. I wasn't expecting much from the plot when I started listening but there's lots of interesting plot going on. The writing is a little slow and the narration, whilst excellent, is also a little slow but other than that I really enjoyed the book.

A refreshing change to find a sci-fi/fantasy story with a female author, lead and narrator. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books on the series.

A fitting conclusion to an epic trilogy

The whole Broken Earth trilogy has blown me away, and this final part does not disappoint. The same gloriously well drawn characters, evocative world building and heart pounding action as before. I'm going to miss the Stillness.

Brilliant Trilogy

Achingly brilliant post-apocalyptic sci fi fantasy. I am overawed by the depth and complexity of this trilogy. The destructive force of the planet matched only by the destructive force of prejudice directed at those who could actually save the planet.
If your young daughter has the magical ability to cause earthquakes how do you ensure that she controls and doesn't use that gift, because you are in hiding and the consequences of being found out are dire. In book 3 the fate of the planet pivots on the dysfunctional mother/daughter relationship created by this circumstance. The climax of this book more than equals the often harrowing journey. Flawed characters and the reason for their flaws. Listening to these books was a fabulous experience. Such warmth and depth and originality and heartache.
N.K. Jemisin you rock (no pun intended)! I predict you get the Hugo for this book - that's a well deserved 3 for 3.
Excellent narration by Robin Miles.

Perfect narration

Fantastic conclusion to a great series, though a bit slow and complicated in parts. Definitely worth pushing through those parts to get to the ending though. Satisfying.

Great trilogy. Awesome story. Voice performance variable

This trilogy was so cool
Voice performance confusing at times and had to repeat some sections to figure out who was talking. Variations in accents from each character.

Story had me hooked!

tricky, unnecessarily confusing for little payoff

Throughout the series their was unnecessary twists and turns that soaked up time, confused amd boree the listener, and took away from the core story.

Each book could have been a third shorter and better for it.

Unrelentingly doleful

By the time you get to this book in the trilogy, if the narrator's voice hasn't driven you to slashing your wrists, the over-extension of the story line will. Jemisin should consider winding up an idea in one volume. Three is a reach too far.

A long slow burn that's ultimately rewarding.

I must say I was looking for something different and I definitely got it.
alien yet archetype similar.
the narrator grew on me , I was concerned initially as I had a issue (my issue) that a female voice lent itself in my head to kids books. Not so .
overall well worth my time and money.

Still thinking about this book days later!

Oh wow. NK Jemisin knocked her finale out of the park with The Stone Sky. I cried a lot, I laughed more than I thought I would, and in the end I had listened to an incredible story that will stay with me for years.
