Publisher's Summary

After the death of their mother, six siblings are upset the beach house in South Port was left solely to their oldest brother, Trey Stone. He never wanted it, and he has no family, anyway. The decision to sell it quickly incites a family feud, and all the siblings can’t help but get involved.

As each sibling finds their way home to South Port and the Stone Family Inn, they will deal with past hurts, let forgiveness into their hearts, and have a second chance at love.

Trey Stone’s only goal was to get it sold and get back to doing what he’s always done: being a Navy SEAL.

Ava Jamison hasn’t been back to South Port since her father passed, but her recent divorce and wanting stability for her 16-year-old son, has given her a longing for home. She’s prepared to buy the old Stone Mansion, and she delights in turning it into an inn where other families can have the same good memories she’s always had.

When Trey puts a stop to the sell of the beach house and demands to know why she’s divorced, it starts a fire burning deep within her she hasn’t felt for a long, long time. Hopefully, the man will get out of her way before she does something really, really stupid like kiss him. Whoops, too late.

Eventually, Trey concedes to a partnership of sorts, and they find themselves working side by side to restore his family home.

When all of Trey and Ava’s old beach friends start popping up in town, Trey discovers South Port just might be his home, after all. And it doesn’t hurt that he might have a shot with the woman he’s never stopped loving.

As these six siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them - family, love, and fun memories on the beach.

A fully emotional story

Looking for a good listen and really glad this was recommended. This story sparked memories and thoughts of my own childhood friends. Great story and it has me on the hook to see what happens with the remaining family.

SEAL, second chance, beachy, suspense

I enjoyed this narration more and more as it went on. He did a great job on the teenager! And the voice he chose for the ex!! Startled me into joyous laughter.
A SEAL second chance beachy romance. Fire. From both sides. Irritations and concessions, the past and the present, and so much more. A lot of fight. I was worried that the whole book would feel like a war, and I needn’t have. I feel like the book is a bit in parts - fights, suspense, romance... There are so many people and moving pieces! This book felt a bit different than the others I've read by Hart, but, I would suggest sticking with it. ;)

Dreamy

I adored this book. I had read it as an ebook before and loved it and thought the voices in my head were just fine but this changed my mind. It took the book to a whole new level. The narration really pulled me in. Perfect for a road trip, except for me sitting in the car with my elbows propped on the steering wheel not going anywhere but unable to “put it down”. I can’t wait for more of this family’s stories.

Entertaining story

I loved The Stone Family Inn but I was not enamored of this narrator. At times, when the narrator was portraying one of the female characters, it reminded me of Jack Black's effeminate character in Jumanji Back to the Jungle.

finding love again

Ill be honest I didn't like the very beginning of this book. I felt like Ava and Trey were cheating. IMO she should have never married her now ex husband but then she would not have her adorable son. A divorce and years later bring these two back to where it all started between them. There were some comical parts as well as some UGH moments. I wanted to be mad at Trey but just couldn't. Loved her son. Not only do they still love each but so many things keep them together including the mystery and suspense. Her ex even grew on me. The narrator did such an amazing job. Great transition between voices and making me see what was happening.

Trey & Ava

A wonderful start to a new series. Trey and Ava have a second chance, but Ava is set against any relationships. Micah was a small character but a great young man.

Sweet romance with a dose of suspense

The Stone Family Inn is a great introduction to Taylor Hart's new series. I definitely enjoyed the ride getting to know Trey and Ava, as well as all the Stone siblings, plus their beach acquaintances and friends. It's certainly an interesting and warm community. It was nice watching Trey and Ava reconnect after so long, and especially with their shared past, though things have definitely changed (they've both grown in different areas), and they have faced hard things (him as part of his job as a SEAL, and her as part of an abusive marriage with a cheating husband). The sparks were definitely still there, and while there were some really passionate kisses, it was nice to see their relationship grow as the story (and the inn's remodeling) progressed. The suspense element added a nice touch, though I'd have preferred if it hadn't been the classic "girl thinks she can face anything on her own, without all the protection/rules/gear the hero has already told/given to her" (repeated) scenario.

The narrator was really good with both the male and female voices, with maybe only slipping a couple of times during the whole book. He's certainly one of the fast ones, but that wasn't a problem since speed can be regulated. What did end up being an issue was the faint "popping" sound that would appear at the end of a sentence for entire paragraphs at the time. It doesn't happen throughout the whole book, but it was often enough that I noticed it, and it jarred me from the narration. Were it not for that, I definitely could have given a higher rating, since the narrator definitely brought all the characters to life (from teenagers to broody adult males, as well as little girls and old ladies). Also, he's the kind that performs not only different emotions and nuances but sounds as well (intakes of or blowing out a breath, sighs, etc).

Overall, this is a great first in series, sweet contemporary romance that deals with heavy topics (abuse, cheating spouse, loss of weight, loss of a loved one). Perfect for fans of the author, sweet romance with a dose of suspense, and/or those looking for community- or family-based stories. ~ 4 stars

Content: While there's mention of prayers, I wouldn't label this one Christian Fiction. There are also some passionate kisses, but while it never goes beyond that, there's a scene where Hero makes fun/doesn't take seriously the heroine's take on a certain situation not being "proper".
