Shallow

This was not a modern day re-write of Little Women. I had difficulty finishing the book. It was a selection for my book club and we unamiously agreed not worth the read.

Don’t Bother!

If you are considering this book based on the description that it is a modern day retelling of Little Women, don’t bother. It doesn’t come anywhere close. To compare 4 of the most endearing characters in literary history to these four is an abomination. The gratuitous sex and foul language alone is enough to turn it off but the characters are shallow and there is no point to the story. All I can say is sorry, Louisa Mae. I will be returning this book if for no other reason than to protest the description.

Not as Bad as They Say, BUT...

Yes, there's language. Yes, there's situations that i prefer to not read about. On the whole, the book is good, but other than the characters' names lifted from the OG Little Women, that's where the similarities end. This book isn't a retelling but a re-imagining. It leaves you hanging on some story lines and just ends without the satisfaction of having an ending. Overall, a nice escape for a summer day, but be prepared to be unsatisfied at the end.

Elementary My Dear Watson

This book is so elementary and doesn’t have any substance. Comparing this to Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women is like comparing a landfill to an orchard. I can’t believe this girl gets her books published much less made into movies. The narrative is equally as bad. They sound like the recorded voices on a computer and are flat and well, just terrible. I have listened to and read for 45 years and I had to force myself to go beyond the first 10 minutes and only did so cause my 15 year old begged me to. Save your money. I’m getting a refund.

A modern-day version of Little Women

I loved this retelling of Little Women with a military backgroud. Very realistic and vivid.
