Good story, good characters, amateurish prose.

I was off and on on this book. The story was engaging to start. Developed ok. And the technology and science was good. However, the author has a somewhat amateurish style with the characters thoughts. He doesn’t seem to trust the reader to understand the emotions and thoughts. So he repeats the thoughts over and over and over. Yes, we get that she doesn’t doesn’t know “what the helm am I doing here). You don’t have to say it 5 or 6 times in two pages. Later in the story, you get why the author seemingly emphasizes what each character is thinking, but it isn’t necessary to drive it in with direct statements. We can follow along just fine. Also, a repetitive confrontation between two of the robots. Gets a little old.

Author has potential. He’s obviously up on science and can write a glowing plot. Just needs to trust the reader more.

Science Fiction Adventure

This is a unique, interesting, imaginative science fiction story with plenty of suspense and occasional humorous moments. The characters are likable and relatable. The futuristic technologies are plausible. The plot moves along at a good pace in keeping with the suspense of the story. The narrator (Sarah Pavelec) has a pleasant voice which is easy to understand. I was given a free review copy of this audio book and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Gave Up

Too much unnecessary description.
Unrealistic things happening.
readers voice highly irritating
Gave up as soon as Spark was introduced in the book.

So so

What a shame. This book started out amazing and quickly fizzled into mediocrity and eye rolling at times as Cathy (an 18 year old genius who couldn’t remember names or how robots work) but she could work out how to save the world.

One thing I must say is I hope no one ever get the technology to manipulate people as they do in this book.

I am sad as this book could have been fabulous.
