Publisher's Summary

I didn't expect to see her again. I didn't expect to want her the way that I do.

I didn't expect to peel back all of her perfectly controlled layers. Or for her to see through mine.

Emma f--king Winchester.

She's the little sister of my ex-best friend, Forrest. She's off limits like tempting forbidden fruit, and I'm the snake slithering through the grass.

She ignites a fire in me. One I can't explain. One I sure as f--k can't control. It's raw and primal.

She's sweet, and I am not.

She's pure, and I'm broken.

When I came back to the town and past I'd left behind 10 years ago to make it big in the world of underground fighting - it was for one reason, and one reason only. To take care of my Grandma Rose, and I'll do it by any means necessary. Even if it means doing the one thing I said I'd never do.

Great purchase!

This book was fantastic! It had the perfect about of heat, romance, drama and suspense. The characters were easy to love and a pleasure to get to know. I could easily see each character warrant their own book as they each have such fascinating personalities, quirks, and life drama. I thought the writing was great, the narration was Solid and the overall experience was positive in all ways. Great read!

Hooked!!!

I received a code to listen to this audio book for an honest review, I was hooked by the first chapter and I am really excited to read the next book in this series. I feel like a lot of people can relate to Dean when growing up a person never fits in. I did not want to stop listening to this book as I really wanted to know the story between Dean and Emma. I am looking forward to the other books in this series to see how the relationship blossoms between them, not going to say much more since I do not want to give any part of the story. It was a steamy romance and just wanted I was looking for. I highly recommend you listen to this book you will not be disappointed.

Just what I was looking for

For me, the mark of a good narration is that when I just read it, I still hear it on the narrators voice. This story hit all those marks. Well done. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Beautiful Possibilities!

Sports, romance, chemistry, hope, pain, self worth, are a few words that describe this book. Alyne Hart is a new author to me. I loved the phrase she wrote that was "I'm not afraid of loving you, I'm afraid of the part where you stop loving me". The insightful views were spot on for this angst-filled second chance romance. I enjoy books where the characters (Emma and Dean) really know each other well for years. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. The performance by Logan McAllister was spot on. He delivers distinguishable voices for the various characters and adds the right emotions. I would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator in the future.

Loved it

Dean and Emma, so different they never should have worked. But, who would want to fight a chemistry so hot that it could explode if ignored? A very well written second chance story. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a really good romance.
I've listened to Logan McAllister before, and again- wonderful narration.

Bad boy good girl romance

Prime example of the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks falling for the good girl. Underground fight ring. Heartbreaking loss of a loved one.

An emotional journey

Alyne Hart has mixed some of my favorite romance subgenres into this beautifully, touching story of Emma and Dean. Dean was Emma's brother, Forest's best friend growing up. When things went bad between the friends, Dean disappeared out of Emma's life, but not out of her heart. Now all grown up, and helping Forest with their family orchard, Emma runs into Dean and the sparks fly. This second chance they are given is one they are not going to let go. But can they find a love to overcome their vast differences? From two sides of the tracks, it is a challenge, but one Emma is willing to take! Dean is broken man, and has walls so thick around his heart, she has her work cut out for her. Hart has written these characters with such depth and feeling, it was as if I was there with them. Each time there is a bump in the road, the pain in my heart was as real as Dean and Emma's. Each time their happiness exuded, my heart exploded with love. It's truly a beautiful story and will take you on the emotional journey of true love. I did think Dean's grandmother stole the show! Her characters is amazing. With Logan McAllister narrating this treasure, you are in for a treat of a listen.

Is it good to fall for the brother's ex-bff?

Dean King, town bad boy and amateur boxer, is back in town to be with his dying grandmother...the woman who practically raised him. Emma had to cut short her college aspirations when her parents were killed in a crash, and return home to help run the family's orchard. Dean used to be her brother's best friend, until something happened that involved her brother's ex-fiancee. Dean and Emma meet and discover more than the spark that has always been there, and start to secretly date. When bad guys come around to have Dean cheat on his boxing matches, will he give in to fund his grandmother's care? What will happen when Emma's brother finally finds out that, not only is Dean back, but he is dating Emma? Will Emma have to choose between her brother and the man who has her heart? Will Dean believe that he is enough for Emma?
There is so much packed into this story, that it leaves you a bit sad when you are at the end. Great story, wonderful 'real' characters...no rich playboys here...and even better HEA. Glad that I discovered this new-to-me author.

The Space Between Us

The Space Between Us is the story of Dean and Emma told in dual POV. Dean is the bad boy fighter while Emma is his ex-best friend's little sister he last saw 10 years ago when she was only 14 years old. They meet again and sparks begin to fly. It is an interesting romance with a little bit of danger and drama mixed in. Logan McAllister did a good job bringing this story to life.

So So Good

Emma was the little sister of Dean's former best friend, she would follow them around and being the annoying little brat. She used to have a huge crush on Dean when she was an awkward teen with braces. Now that they are both are grown up 10 years later Emma is just what Dean needs to get I the straight and narrow. They kept their new relationship a secret because of her brother Forrest will never approve. Love this secret romance and Logan McAllister did an awesome job narrating

The Start to an AWESOME Series!!!

This is my 1st time listening to one of Alyne Hart's books and I love her style of telling the story.

You have Dean and Forrest, best friends, for like forever it seems. They're now Seniors in High School and something goes terribly wrong, the friendship has ended. Dean was a common fixture around the house. Dean was like another son. Now his name can't be mentioned anywhere in the house.

Now you Emma, the little sister of Forrest. All the time Forrest and Dean had been best friends, she has had the biggest crush on Dean; really big.

The ending of the friendship causes Dean to leave Evansville County, "Had he done anything wrong to Forrest that warrant his cold shoulder and ending the friendship?

Ten years has past and a lot has happened to both families. Dean's back and he doesn't want Forrest to know. He runs into Emma, the all grown up Emma and he wants her.

With Dean's return we learn what brought him back. We'll learn the truth on why they're friendship really ended. Also, learn that he has some really deep, deep, s*** that he's dealing with inside himself, that he can jeopardize what he could possibly have with Emma.

Will Emma risk everything to have a relationship with Dean knowing how her brother feels about him? Will her love for him be enough to keep all of it from the brother that she loves very deeply, who has been there for her. You will get a lot of questions answer and maybe two people can come together and build something.

I really enjoy this book and I look forward to books two, three and four, because I feel like the author really got off to a really, really good start with book 1 and let's not forget about the narrator because the author cannot do it all by themself and that would be Logan McAllister. Logan, this is my first time hearing you and I think you did a fine job in your narration of this book. I gave you both five stars, wish I could give you more.

Good Book

I love second chance romances. Even though they were never together when they were younger, Emma had a childhood crush on Dean. Dean had some issues to deal with and Emma is perfect for him. Their chemistry is off the charts. This is a good book.
