Thinblade, book one:

When second son Alexander Valentine loses his brother to an assassin's arrow, he discovers that his family protects an ancient secret and reluctantly finds himself at the center of the final battle of a war that was supposed to have ended 2,000 years ago. Pursued by the dark minions of an ancient enemy, Alexander flees to the mountain city of Glen Morillian, where he discovers that he is the heir to the throne of Ruatha, one of the Seven Isles, but before he can claim the throne he must recover the ancient Thinblade. Thinblade is the story of Alexander's quest to find the ancient sword, claim the throne of Ruatha, and raise an army to stand against the enemy that has awoken to claim dominion over all of the Seven Isles.

Sovereign Stone, book two:

After gaining entrance to Blackstone Keep and recovering the legendary Thinblade, Alexander must seek out the Sovereign Stone, and quickly. Contained within the ancient teardrop ruby is the secret of Wizard's Dust, the source of magic and the one thing that will ultimately decide the final battle of the Reishi War. Prince Phane will stop at nothing to lay claim to the Stone and with it the world.

Mindbender, book three:

War has erupted across the Seven Isles. Alexander has recovered the Sovereign Stone, and much to his surprise it has bonded to him, revealing the truth of his bloodline and his duty. He is the Seventh Sovereign of the Seven Isles and champion of the Old Law. Fleeing the wrath of Prince Phane, Alexander has traveled through the Reishi Gate to Ithilian in search of an alliance, only to discover that Ithilian is facing the threat of invasion as well. Alexander struggles to bring the army of Ithilian to his aid while secretly searching for information about his unique magical calling, information that he desperately needs if he is to have any chance against Phane. What he finds is beyond anything he imagined.

Nice Story, Great Listen

For anyone the likes fantasy they should get this omnibus. It is a good story. I very much enjoyed listening to it. It kind of reminded me of listening to a D&D adventure (less the elves). The writing is good and the story is tried and true. However, that is what keeps it from being 5 stars. Some of it seems a little contrived as if the author is doing the 'paint by the numbers' version of fantasy writing. I do not want that to take away from this book though, It really is an enjoyable read/listen. To point of fact, I bought the physical copies of the books as well. And for a single credit this is MORE than worth it.

Good storyline but lacking....

Story line was well laid out and performance by Derek Perkins was exceptional as always. My only complaint was the lack of imagination when it came to the descriptions of things throughout the book. Thesaurus maybe??..
Maybe I've been a bit jaded by GRRM, but there is no tragedies. How all the main characters make it through without so much as a loss of limb or even a lasting scar is beyond me. haha. All in all it was an enjoyable book. I will be listening to the remainder of the series.

Above average

A well written story with all the typical fantasy characters, both good and evil. I appreciate the authors ability to hold the climax of battles without dragging them out too long... realistic fantasy fiction. I will look for more books by this author

Great omnibus

It took till the end of the first book for me to get hooked, but after that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good characters and even good story IF...

If you can tolerate the endless overkill on emotional filler that pretty much sums up each charachter's feelings over and over and over, often using almost the exact same wording to describe said feelings then it's actually a good story. This happens throughout the entire omnibus. Personally I struggled with this and at points felt it killed the rhythm of the story. Fortunately, for me the characters themselves kept me interested enough to continue. One last thing...this author REALLY like butter (you'll figure it out if you listen to the story).

Good listen

Definitely worth the listen, the story isn't particularly original, but the magic system used really peaked my interest and kept me listening through the whole series.

Turoughly engrossing

Where does The Sovereign of the Seven Isles Omnibus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Reminds me of a good Dungeons & Dragon session from back in the day. Progressed very fast but still left me wanting to get the rest of the books in the series.

What did you like best about this story?

Easily consumed and constantly moving.

Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favorite?

Each character has it's own distinct style. Mr. Perkins does a great job of keeping distinct style to each character and easily allows each character to remain distinct, not an easy task given the number of primary and secondary characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The most powerful wizard who has been entombed for the past 1,000 is awake, and our best hope is a ranch hand.

Good story

great quest with a fine company of adventurers. I enjoyed the pace but a few times I had a hard time staying engaged. It is not quite as rounded as a GoT or LoTR but I enjoyed it while commuting back and forth to work.

Everything is scintillating and Chloe is worried.

That sums up my thoughts about the book^ Oh my goodness someone should tell the author that words besides scintillating exist, he uses it to describe what feels like everything. The author is very repetitive always eluding to how worried Chloe is when Alexander leaves his body. Also, MC is kind of a cry baby, and I guess it’s part of his character but he’s so whiny sometimes it’s annoying. It was a good book, but someone seriously needs to tell David that words like “sparkling”, “swirling”, “glittering”, or even “twinkling” also exist, so he doesn’t have to use scintillating like five thousand times.
