Publisher's Summary

Amazon Top 100 Best-selling Author, Dakota Willink, brings an emotionally gripping, dark romantic suspense to the Leave Me Breathless World that is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat!

Gianna

There’s a common expression I remind myself of every day: That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

People think I live an idyllic life with my perfect husband, but they don’t know what lies beneath the façade.

Like the delicate petals of the daisies he loved to give, I was easily crushed — broken, just as he wanted me to be.

I’ve learned to accept what is, but I won’t let it destroy me.

Instead, I do the only thing I can to survive — I run.

Derek

I knew she had a story. I knew it most likely contained violence, but never did I imagine the horrors she’d been through.

I’d waited so long and she’d experienced so much. She was perfectly imperfect, her scars more than skin deep.

It was near impossible to separate truths from lies, but I knew her secret. Yet, I couldn’t help wanting to get closer. She was strong, and there was beauty in strength.

I was drawn to it — drawn to her.

I wanted to erase her horrors and give her something new to dream about.

Trigger Warning: This story contains situations of domestic violence and abuse. Some aspects may be sensitive for some listeners.

Emotional, Intense, and Suspenseful!

The Sound of Silence is a captivating Romantic Suspense. The story is beautifully written. Gianna's story is heartbreaking, emotional, intense, and suspenseful, filled with twists and turns. She is a beautiful survivor, strong, and determined. Derek is handsome, caring, and protective. Ethan is dark and devilish. The characters are well developed, and intriguing. The story is told with three POV, which is great. The supporting characters are great. I love the ending. Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett, and Connor Crais did an outstanding job with the narration. They are perfect as Gianna, Derek and Ethan. This is a wonderful team authors/narrators. I highly recommend it. #TheFlock #PinkFlamingoProductions

Gia taking back her life

Gia had her dream wedding but not her dream life. Ethan's controlling ways were getting out of hand. Leaving Ethan was necessary to live. Meeting Derek saved her life. She gradually learned to take control and started live again. But she always checked shadows around her . She had a premonition Ethan would find her. He always told her if she left him, he would kill her. Was she really safe?
This story by Dakota Willink is intense, thrilling, dark. It grabbed me from the start. She shows Gia at her most vulnerable and weak, to a strong woman who learns to fight back for her life. This story shows the effect physical and mental abuse has on the victim. Trigger warning, this story has episodes of physical abuse.
Sarah Puckett, Sean Crisden, and Connor Crais are outstanding narrators. Their performance is fantastic, telling the story with such emotions .from the fear and emotions of Gia, to the mental instability of Ethan, to the love and concern, and protective nature of Derek. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character. Thank.you for a great listen.

One of my top reads/listens for 2020!

This story is truly gutted me emotionally. It shows the truths of what it really means to be in the grasp of an abuser. These three characters are all very different and you get to see into each other their minds as everything plays out. I could barely catch my breathe as I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Its such a powerful read and it needs to be experienced, it needs to be heard. My heart hurt for Gianna, her relationship with Ethan was an awful, brutal, soul crushing, broken, and twisted thing. Her journey to survive and piece together all thats been shattered took a strength that would bring you to your knees. Derek is the complete opposite on Ethan. He walked beside Gianna through it all, there to show her that life isn't all nightmares and pain.

The narrators did an outstanding job. They truly embraced these characters and I'm just blown away by their performance. Hands down one of my top favorites of 2020. I can't rave enough about this story/listen.

A masterpiece of EPIC proportion

Before I start my praise for this book let me first say GREAT job to the narrators!!! All 3 did a superb job. Now for my review...... I started this book as if it was fated to be this way.... on the 25th of November (The first day of 16 Days of activism against woman and child abuse) Dakota Willink could not have done a better job!! Emotional, Gut wrenching, Suspenseful are some words to describe this masterpiece, but not only that.... strength, empowerment, healing, these are also words that come to mind when I think of this book. I myself have never been abused or hurt in any way but there's always this lingering fear that it could happen. This book (even if it's fiction) gave me hope that even if it happened, I would be able to have the strength to come out the otherside. Now more about the writing.... I absolutely loved the fact that it was written from different POV's ESPECIALLY!!! the fact that we got to see inside the twisted mind of Ethan, that was really something different that I haven't seen before and it gave the story that extra layer of interest and intrigue. All 3 characters are well developed and the fact that the story took part over a couple of years made it more believable. I can go on and on about this book.... but I won't.... JUST GET IT NOW!!!

The Sound of Silence

what the hell!!!! man I got to say Dakota hun you did a very good job on writing this book. so on point, this book hit home I could feel the pain and how scared she was. I grew up around abused, I've seen it all, my own father was an abusive man to my mom. I saw him do it all, everything in this book my mother went through. so I know how hard it is for a woman to get out of it. I'm just glad there's more help for us now. again this was a really good book, but if you do have triggers against abused , just be careful because it could bring up them old memories. but I promise you guys will not be disappointed with this book. let's not forget about our narrator's they all did an amazing job.

The narration is really great as well. This book is intense, dark, suspenseful, overwhelming, and sometimes even confusing, But you will come out the other side! WOW! Just go listen!

Intense, Poignant and Thought Provoking...

The Sound of Silence is an emotional, intense, poignant and thought provoking book that sheds some light on the often not talked about but very important topic of domestic violence. Gia finds herself being swept off her feet by Ethan and they have a whirlwind romance. Shortly after the wedding, his behavior changes and things she thought were romanctic or sweet before, she now notices are really controlling, and his whole demeanor towards her has changed. But, she has no way out. With no family and no money of her own, and with Ethan controlling every aspect of her life, Gianna is trapped....and Ethan becomes more and more volatile and unhinged. When she feels her life is in danger, Gia decides she needs to get out, but starting over isn't easy and looking over her shoulder is all she does, constantly living in fear.

Derek had a chance encounter with Gia on her wedding day and he sensed they had a strong connection, but there was nothing he could do about it... after all she was another man's wife. Now, three years later, they meet again in a huge city. Derek can tell something has changed Gia. But he can be patient and he can be her friend, and more than anything he wonders if this is their second chance.

The author did an AMAZING job with this most delicate story line. As someone with a psychology/social work background, the nuances of domestic violence are sometimes hard to accurately portray if you have not been directly impacted first hand or have not studied it in depth or have not worked in the field, but the author really did an exemplary job. Her portrayal of Ethan's character was brilliant. There is so much more more than physical abuse that goes into domestic violence and she really nailed it with Ethan's character and with the story line in general. I loved Derek's character and how patient and caring he was with Gia. I would highly highly recommend this story.

Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett and Connor Crais all did an outstanding job with this intense story. They all delivered fabulous narration full of all the emotions necessary for this story. I would highly recommend them all and will definitely be listening to more of their work in the future. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Outstanding Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Intense!

This book is awesome, the story wowed me completely and it is definitely left me breathless. Dakota Willink created one dark and intense story, one that captivated my attention from start to end. This is the type of book you do not want to put down because you need to know what happens next. The storylines and characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored and admired the lead female character, Gianna, her tenacity and determination to not only survive but to free herself and get away from her abuser. The person she married hid his true self from her, his evil deranged mind, the mind of a narcissistic madman. She had to bide her time with him because of who he was but even if she gets away she is never truly free of him. Derek had a brief encounter with Gianna the night of her wedding, there was an instant connection between them and he never forgot about her, so he was surprised to see her again years later posing as a completely different person. He knew she had a story and he was waiting her for to share it and when she finally did it blew his mind what she endured. But he had faith in her and her strength. This book is brilliantly plotted, there plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, mystery, and yes romance, but what makes this book shine the most is not just the complexity of the story and it’s characters but how much the characters and where they wind up in the end. Dakota Willink, thank you for this outstanding story and for the emotional and thrilling rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett and Connor Crais are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They did an awesome job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. Sarah Puckett took Gianna’s role and ran with it and made it her own. She allowed you to hear her strength, determination as well as her vulnerabilities. Sean Crisden played the perfect Derek, a gentleman with a whole lot of heart, he brought out is fierceness at the right moments too. Connor Crais grasped Ethan’s persona to a tee, he played the part going from sweetheart to a madman with ease. These are mega talented narrators, they are entertaining storytellers and their performance enhanced the story another level. Thank you for this outstanding listen🎧

Heartbreaking - Abused wife

This is an intense read/listen. Normally, I do not want interruptions when listening to a good book. This time I had to work them in just to give myself time to regroup. Ethan was a religious, abusive, psychopath who was able to deceive Gianna in the beginning. After marriage, part of the truth was revealed. This part made me sick, scared, and angry. My heart rate increased and tears ran down my face as I listened. Gianna transformed through the book. I didn't ever see her as weak, although she thought others saw her that way. I saw her as an innocent, loving character. She was smart and strong to climb out of her situation. Derek provided a place for healing, allowing her the time she needed as well as teaching skills for her to feel safer/stronger. The hope of healing was soothing. We learn even more about Ethan at the end. There is a HFN ending. Abuse is definitely a hard issue to tackle with sensitivity and care. My heart is still heavy. All three narrators were excellent. They brought this audio alive as it rolled through my head like a movie. Sarah Puckett is a favorite narrator. I'm unsure who was who of the guys, but both parts were absolutely done! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer #PinkFlamingoProductions

Empowering.

I received this audiobook via a promo code at my request from Audiobook Obsession and this is my voluntary review.

Advanced warning. There is violence, domestic abuse and assault.

Gianna never really stood a chance of avoiding her nightmare marriage to Ethan, the corrupt cop with an obsession for her. (This book was similar to Shattered by AK MacBride but a lot darker) She finally bolts and is reuinted with Derek, the hot gym trainer who she met on her wedding day to Ethan, and she begins trying to rebuild herself after the traumas she suffered. Ethan's wife hunting skills are beyond her greatest fears, and he's been at the business of hunting down women and controlling women a lot longer than anyone ever could have anticipated. Derek was everything she needed to face the shadows in her past and helping her find liberation.

I can't say too much without giving out spoilers and ruining important plot points, so all I will say is I really enjoyed the triple narration which allowed us to see everyone's POV.

Ethan was definitely one crazy I wouldn't want to catch the attention of.

So worth listening to and excellent narration

I always feel reticent to say I have enjoyed a book with this kind of subject matter. I think I would rather say that it is a beautifully written and considered story. The characters are so real I totally felt for them as the story progresses. I so wanted to know what was going to happen. It is one that will stay with me for a while. Sarah Puckett, Sean Crisden and Connor Craig's really brought the characters to life, their narration was so on point. Well worth the listen.

Really Good

Wow! I truly loved this story, it is not an easy and all heartwarming, it's raw, frustrating and emotional, but really well written.
Gia was such a strong character that grew so much throughout the book, learning how to be stronger inside and outside. She didn't have an easy journey but she was able to overcome her obstacles against all odds.

I hope that people who read this story and are or have in a similar situation get inspired by Gia's journey and learn that there's someone out there who will help them and that it's not their fault what's happening.

As for the narration, Sarah Puckett, Sean Crisden and Connor Crais where super great they bring the characters to live and make you enjoy the story so much more.

Strong and Silent

This story is an emotional roller coaster that has you rooting for Gianna. Gianna escapes from an abusive relationship and has to hide because she knows her husband will not stop searching for her. She meets the man she met on her wedding day and never forgot. She is not open for a relationship but he waits and gives her what she needs. The husband is now on the run and has found her. Neither expected how twisted this man really is. Now she must fight and take back her life.

Chilling!

The Sound of Silence deals with domestic violence and is emotional, intense and powerful. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning all the way until the end. While this story is fiction and parts of it are not easy to listen to, it is the type of book that helps people who have never found themselves in an abusive relationship to understand and have compassion for those who have and for them to see it's a lot easier to just tell someone to get out of the relationship than it is for them to actually do it. The statistics given by Dakota at the end in the author's notes are staggering. I love both Gianna and Derek and highly recommend listening to their story.

Sean, Sarah and Connor all did an amazing job breathing life into these characters and bringing out all of their emotions. They truly brought this story to life for me.

This one was really good! Even though this deals with a tough subject of marital domestic violence/abuse, Dakota did put a different spin on Ethan's past. This one is really fast paced and to me it had a thriller vibe to it. Very well written.

The narrators Sean, Sarah and Connor were perfect for their roles.

Gianna and Derek!

When Gianna married Ethan the future she envisioned soon turned into a nightmare when she realized that their life and love is nothing but a lie. Years later their relationship reaches a crisis point and she manages to escape but her battle to reclaim her life is just beginning.

Derek met Gianna by chance on her wedding day, but he has never forgotten their encounter. When fate brings them back together, he can see the toll her past has taken on her and he is so supportive and understanding as she works to become the woman she used be.

Both Gianna and Derek are such compelling characters, and their story captures you from beginning to end. After everything she has endured she is so much stronger than even she knows, and Derek gives Giana exactly what she needs with no thought of the consequences to himself. The narrators did a wonderful of bringing out the personality of the characters as well as the emotion and suspense of the storyline. 🎧The Flock

The Sound of Silence

So Good!! This book reminds me of one of my favorite movies which made me love it even more. The suspense of a woman running from an abusive spouse is always an interesting read to see the heroin find her inner strength and be able to rise above the past (as long as it’s fictional... if it is real, please find help). Such an intense listen that had me listening all in one go. Narration was perfect.
