Publisher's summary

"I’m a fan of great ghost stories. You know, those that make you think and leave you with a sense of unease. It’s more than being scared or the mere shock value of gore and violence. It’s when the writer can get into your head and make you look over your shoulder or keep a light on the rest of the night. Bibiana Krall has done just that with her most recent short story, The Soul Keeper"

Travel to the year 1967, when San Francisco became the place for young people to explore their sexuality, find freedom and transcend. What Willow never expected was to experience a ghostly presence that haunted her dreams and terrorized her waking hours. Will she discover what the stranger wants from her before it's too late? Over 18 recommendation due to mature content concerning references to drug use and its culture.

Alluring Story and Superb Narration

I read the ebook and just had to hear the narration of this captivating story. Malaika Cooper does a wonderful job bringing Mrs. Krall’s descriptive and mesmerizing prose to life. Again, I highly recommend The Soul Keeper.

Going to San Francisco

Over fifty years have passed since the iconic countercultural song "San Francisco" was on the radio. Today, writer Bibiana Krall's evocative ghost story brings all the feelings, and spiritual mysteries of the times back for us in this lush and layered story.

Willow is chilling with her friends in San Francisco, the group that is vividly displayed on the card for this audiobook. Mysterious smells, voices and visions haunt her. Are they linked to the boutique where she and her man discovered an unusual signet ring?
Willow's friends notice that she is troubled. Some blame it on pot and other substances, but friend knows that San Francisco is "built on bones". A supernatural force seems to lead Willow to a ghost clad in mist, regret and shadow. Is this her destiny?

I listened to this book on Audible.com. The length of one hour is a perfect time to listen to a complete story, whether on your commute, exercising or cooking dinner. The narrator, L. Malaika Cooper, has an intriguing voice that suits each character, whether spectral or not. This is a very "listenable" book that will entertain you and unsettle you as only a nuanced and well-told ghost story can.

Many thanks to author Bibiana Krall for a promotional code for this audiobook. This is my honest review.

A true tale of love lost, wrapped in a ghost story!

Bibiana Krall brings to life the era of the ‘60’s in San Francisco with characters so real, you’ll feel you know them. Her voice is clear and her story compelling. The narrator has the gift of making all of it sound relatable and enticing. If you’re a fan of ghost stories, you need to listen through to the end to solve Willow’s mystery.

An immensely enjoyable read!

I immensely enjoyed this short paranormal read! Few authors have the ability to deliver such a strong plot, vivid imagery, well fleshed out characters, and witty writing within such a short amount of story, however, Krall nails all the elements. The author effectively places us, the reader, square into the time, place, and minds of her characters. I particularly enjoyed the romantic/mysterious element surrounding Heinrich and Clara. The fact that these two characters actually existed truly blew me away. Although their story was fictionalized, Krall pays these lovers great homage by delivering a hauntingly beautiful tale. Overall, this story is very well written and thoroughly engaging. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
