Publisher's Summary

A sweeping, heart-wrenching, standalone from New York Times bestseller Pepper Winters.

"Things you should know about me from the very beginning: I was born to true love, witnessed the destruction it causes, and vowed never to let such agony happen to me. I am not a story-teller like my father. I am not a writer like my mother. I am just a son - their son. I am happy being alone. And that is all I ever want to be."

Jacob

The day he was born, Jacob learned his hardest and longest lesson. It wasn't a lesson a boy should learn so young, but from his earliest memories he knew where happiness lives, so does tragedy. Where love exists, so does heartbreak. And where hope resides, so does sorrow. That lesson carved him from the kid to the teen to the man. And nothing and no one could change his mind.

Hope

I first met him when he was 14 at a movie premiere of all places. A movie based on his parent's life. He was stoic, strong, suspicious, and secretive. I was only 10, but I felt something for him. A strange kind of heartbreak that made me want to hug and heal him. I was the daughter of the actor hired to play his father. We shared similarities. I recognized parts of him because they were parts of me. But no matter how many times we met. No matter how many times I tried. He stayed true to his vow to never fall.

What a Journey this series was spectacular!

💕💕💕I can’t say enough good tho about this trio of books Pepper Winters gifted us...it’s such a beautiful story of love and loss and healing and forgiveness and forever love. It comes full circle so beautifully in this book to finish out the trilogy. I’m forever changed by Ren, Della, Jacob and Hope. Unbelievable. Loved it.

Tears Are Rolling....

The Son & His Hope
By
Pepper Winters
When I saw this (audio)book under “New Releases” I was beyond excited knowing it had to be an extension of the duet The Boy & His Ribbon & The Girl & Her Ren.
First, I’d highly recommend, if you haven’t done so already, read/listen to those two (audio)books first. It’s almost necessary in order to understand why Jacob Wild aka Wild One is the way he is and where he came from. It also allows you to feel the depth of love Della & Ren (his parents) shared and their beautiful story. It’s truly an epic love story Pepper Winters so perfectly wove that had me laughing, right on through to crying my eyes out (ugly crying too!). It also had me feeling every possible emotion one could feel in between those two. Without a doubt in my “Top 10 All Time Favorites” of (audio)books....And I listen to a LOT of audiobooks.
Back to this review...The Son & His Hope... Hmm, I’m torn on this review. I’ll say that overall the story was good, it really was. I’d def call this one and EXTREMELY SLOWWWWW BURN...Like 10 or 11 years SLOW... I did struggle with Jacobs character and how cruel his words so often were to Hope. I understand the teen and adult version of Jacob had major issues and fears but I think maybe if Pepper Winters showed some more of the good in him (like she did with his father Ren) throughout the story he would’ve been a more likable hero. I hate that he came across to me as miserable and just mean. Unfortunately it wasn’t until the very end that a sweet side came through and just as Hope was over it, I was as well. It was too late for me and I guess you’ll have to listen/read to see if it was too late for Hope as well.
I never fail to mention narration. Will M. Watt & Hayden Bishop did an excellent job narrating all three books in this series. They made each characters voice easily distinguishable and true to their own personalities. GREAT JOB!!

Awesome read. Pepper Winters is brilliant!

This was such an emotional rollercoaster. Pepper Winters has done it again. I feel like I have closure from the first two books. Awesome read. Great narration. This book should be made into a movie.

Definition of a truley talented Author !

first off,I hate(love) you ,Pepper Winters! because of your roller coaster of emotional brilliancy, I have lost 1 cell phone,a kindle hd,a pair of head phones, & my husbsnd and kids have you on their radar now because im as total wreck and they blame you.So i guess that speaks volumes for the kind of author you are..I read (listen because i work alot)3 to 6 books a week(Yes, i have a problem..:-)).and i have a handfull ,mayby,,of books that stick to my soul...you are one of few writers that I'm in true aww of. i didnt read" a girl and her ren" because i knew i couldnt handle it after i read the reviews..and when i saw "a son and his lace"I bit..You tricked me into believing you were redeeming our hearts for us..you so ensnared me without remorse! Love,Love ,your Words!

I love this series

I have been waiting for this audiobook to come out for months and it’s so worth it! But it needs an update, because it’s a duel narration some of the crossover conversations don’t seem to of merged properly so you’ll only get part of the conversation/story at times leaving blank spots usually where either Jacob or Hope are talking to each other making it a one sided conversation. Once that’s fixed up it’ll be perfect, just like the rest of the series!
