Publisher's summary

A sweeping, heart-wrenching, standalone from New York Times bestseller Pepper Winters.

"Things you should know about me from the very beginning: I was born to true love, witnessed the destruction it causes, and vowed never to let such agony happen to me. I am not a story-teller like my father. I am not a writer like my mother. I am just a son - their son. I am happy being alone. And that is all I ever want to be."

Jacob

The day he was born, Jacob learned his hardest and longest lesson. It wasn't a lesson a boy should learn so young, but from his earliest memories he knew where happiness lives, so does tragedy. Where love exists, so does heartbreak. And where hope resides, so does sorrow. That lesson carved him from the kid to the teen to the man. And nothing and no one could change his mind.

Hope

I first met him when he was 14 at a movie premiere of all places. A movie based on his parent's life. He was stoic, strong, suspicious, and secretive. I was only 10, but I felt something for him. A strange kind of heartbreak that made me want to hug and heal him. I was the daughter of the actor hired to play his father. We shared similarities. I recognized parts of him because they were parts of me. But no matter how many times we met. No matter how many times I tried. He stayed true to his vow to never fall.

Tears Are Rolling....

The Son & His Hope
By
Pepper Winters
When I saw this (audio)book under “New Releases” I was beyond excited knowing it had to be an extension of the duet The Boy & His Ribbon & The Girl & Her Ren.
First, I’d highly recommend, if you haven’t done so already, read/listen to those two (audio)books first. It’s almost necessary in order to understand why Jacob Wild aka Wild One is the way he is and where he came from. It also allows you to feel the depth of love Della & Ren (his parents) shared and their beautiful story. It’s truly an epic love story Pepper Winters so perfectly wove that had me laughing, right on through to crying my eyes out (ugly crying too!). It also had me feeling every possible emotion one could feel in between those two. Without a doubt in my “Top 10 All Time Favorites” of (audio)books....And I listen to a LOT of audiobooks.
Back to this review...The Son & His Hope... Hmm, I’m torn on this review. I’ll say that overall the story was good, it really was. I’d def call this one and EXTREMELY SLOWWWWW BURN...Like 10 or 11 years SLOW... I did struggle with Jacobs character and how cruel his words so often were to Hope. I understand the teen and adult version of Jacob had major issues and fears but I think maybe if Pepper Winters showed some more of the good in him (like she did with his father Ren) throughout the story he would’ve been a more likable hero. I hate that he came across to me as miserable and just mean. Unfortunately it wasn’t until the very end that a sweet side came through and just as Hope was over it, I was as well. It was too late for me and I guess you’ll have to listen/read to see if it was too late for Hope as well.
I never fail to mention narration. Will M. Watt & Hayden Bishop did an excellent job narrating all three books in this series. They made each characters voice easily distinguishable and true to their own personalities. GREAT JOB!!

What a Journey this series was spectacular!

💕💕💕I can’t say enough good tho about this trio of books Pepper Winters gifted us...it’s such a beautiful story of love and loss and healing and forgiveness and forever love. It comes full circle so beautifully in this book to finish out the trilogy. I’m forever changed by Ren, Della, Jacob and Hope. Unbelievable. Loved it.

Awesome!!!!

The best series I have read, you get angry then you want to cry happy tears at the end of the book. Which is hard because I’m reading this at work... 😊 I highly recommend, it’s worth the credit.

Amazing!!

My god! Will and Hayden I'm convinced you're trying to kill me with emotions along with pepper winters, I've said it before and I will say it again you guys deserve an award for this narration and the ones of the series. A rollercoaster of tears , love, anger, heartache, lust , bliss and those are just a few of what I felt while I listened to this story from the crack of dawn to way into the night, struggling to stay awake at times greedy for more,. You made me live in cherry river and never want to go home. I was moved so much my chest ached and my stomach fluttered as if I was hope as if I felt what she felt I have never listened to anything in my life like I have these stories and for that i will chase every single book not only.of pepper but that you narrate a gazillion stars by far the best audio books I have ever listened to in my life!

Heart wrenching beautiful story

If I would have know this entire series of Ren & Della and their son Jacob would rip break my heart not once, not twice, but a million times over, I would have preferred not to listen to this heartbreaking story. The narrators did a phenomenal performance and truly bought the story to life. Tissue boxes needed for this story. Forget the packets. Grab the whole damn box

Not as good as first two books, but still worth a read to know the end to the trilogy

This book is very depressing. Considering the hardship Ren and Della went through and the love they fought for and eventually cherished, it was hard to see their son born from that love fear, and reject love and affection so much. Jacob treats Hope like a doormat, the scum of the earth throughout the majority of this book.. which does wear thin and gets tiring.. love or no love I got to the point where I was thinking honey you need to move on! But true to her name she doesn't give up hope.

I loved the first two books, this one just stretched the repetitious unrequited love plot way too much.. It made me want to shake Hope and tell her to move on and shake Jacob and tell him it is better to have loved and lost than not love at all. This book detached my emotions unlike the first two books which pulled me in and had me experience a myriad of emotions. This book only frustrated me. It is still worth reading and the last few chapters did choke me, but it doesn't match the first two books.

I love this series

I have been waiting for this audiobook to come out for months and it’s so worth it! But it needs an update, because it’s a duel narration some of the crossover conversations don’t seem to of merged properly so you’ll only get part of the conversation/story at times leaving blank spots usually where either Jacob or Hope are talking to each other making it a one sided conversation. Once that’s fixed up it’ll be perfect, just like the rest of the series!
