Publisher's summary

Sherlock Holmes said that Mary Morstan might have been most useful in detective work if she had only remained single. She had a decided genius. So, bored with staying at home while her husband is away helping Holmes catch criminals, Dr. Watson's wife decides to have a go at the game herself. In this she is ably assisted by her friend Emily Fanshaw, who likes to play a transvestite role occasionally.

Dr Watson & Mary Morstan in a different universe!

Molly Carr reimagines ACD’s Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson and Mary Morstan, sometimes into the opposite. Mary is working with Prof Moriarity and against Holmes. John Watson is not who he appears to be. Characters from ACD stories and elsewhere join in the shenanigans. The stories are clever, but I don’t know why Mary is so resentful towards Holmes & Watson and that bothered me. Also as an ACD fan, some of the revelations were too much for me to bear. The narration was excellent. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Interesting Stories with a Big Challenge

While the stories on their own are interesting enough, you have to be prepared for Molly Carr turning everything you knew from ACD on its head. Performance was good.

A good story

I liked this book, it was really fun and entertaining, but.... I have some issues with it.

The first and main one is having Mary working with Moriarty at the beginning. I can't understand what was the point of make her working against her husband and Holmes if that isn't the crux of the story. I didn't like Watson's deconstruction too much, either but then it is possible that my love for Watson is making me biased in that respect.

And I would like to have less characters from other books showing up here. The first one was funny, by the fourth I was tired of them.

Nevertheless, this is a engaging story that got me listening to the end.
