Publisher's summary

Months into a cross-country, soul-searching trip by motorcycle, Dan Harper finds himself facing down a storm, deep in the forests of the Ozark foothills, after passing through the sleepy little town of River Overlook.

Dan seeks shelter in a long-abandoned house by the roadside, but a chance discovery - and a voice from his past - pulls him into the middle of a decades-old mystery. A mystery that local Constable Al Perkins will do anything to cover up. As tornadoes ravage the town in the night, Dan learns that there is more to the story than meets the eye.

“We mustn’t go into the woods.”

Very entertaining

This is a very intriguing audio book that had me entertained for hours in the car. It is quite scary though, so I would not recommend this if you get paranoid easily, lol.

Unique and Creepy Story

The Shotgun House is a unique well written creepy story that will make you think twice about going into the forest. James Daniel Burkdoll is an amazing narrator that has the ability to give stories a life of their own. The story is subtle and suspenseful and not gore filled yet it will give you nightmares. I honestly enjoyed listening to this story because of that and the well developed characters and storyline. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves horror, mystery and suspense. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition. I received this book for free upon my request but it has nothing to do with my review.

Great story

Great book. Easy to listen to. Story has a little something for everybody. Extreme weather, murder mystery, ghost story, small town politics, and more. Good story to listen to on a daily commute back and forth to work. I loved the narrator's style. I can't wait for the sequel.

Slow

I gave up 3 hours in as nothing was happening. Perhaps some people like the slow build in some books but I found it boring. Narration was good and the story decent enough though perhaps it picks up later but I simply lost interest.
