Benjamin January, a free Black man, physician, and musician in the American South in the antebellum years of the 1830s, ends up far away from New Orleans caught up in new adventures out West.

My daughter and I have been listening to this series together and we enjoy Ron Butler’s narration very much. He helps bring Barbara Hambly’s story to life. This story is one of our favorites, so many interesting characters and the mystery we are left with is wonderful. Thanks to both Barbara and Ron for bringing this story of history to us.
