Publisher's summary

The fire destroyed her but saved her from marriage to a cruel man.

Nelly knows no man will ever love her as she bears horrific scars from a fire where she was hailed as a hero. The loveless marriage she was destined for broke apart when the man couldn't bear to look at her. But Boyd's ad has her heart fluttering and hope ignites in her soul.

Boyd wants a woman to take care of his house. The handsome sheriff wants only a marriage of convenience, nothing more. When Nelly arrives, Boyd is shocked when she takes off her veil. As time passes, he's convinced that Nelly must go. A heartbroken Nelly feared it would come to this, never expecting to fall in love with a man who can't bear to look at her.

>2 hours. Short. Fun. Predictable, but enoyable

Nellie is badly burned in a hotel fire immediately before an arranged marriage, only to be rejected by the groom because of her scars. Boyd, a town sherriff, seeks a mail order bride, but how will he handle the scars? Warm. Short. Predictable, but totally enjoyable. Narrator needs to vary rythym and breath patterns more so that it is less sing-songy.

Tells a powerful story

This Novella by Stella Clark is well paced, coherent, heartfelt and beautifully crafted. It paints the picture of two very different individuals building their lives together following trauma and really highlights the significance of strong communication and what happens when we withold our feelings.

The narration is not as negative as indicated in other reviews and thogh it detracts a little from the story, was not horrible.

Great book

I listened to this one on audio.
This was a great book. It was wonderfully written. I loved the message in this book, Even tho I know not to judge people on their looks, it is always a great reminder. The feelings of the heroine was well done. I felt for her. I felt for him as well. The communication issues they had seem completely realistic. This was a quick book to listen to. I will be looking for more of Stella Clark's books.
The narrator of this book is not for me. I cannot stand how some words are stretched out. I was interested in the book and I was glad it wasn't a long book.
