Story
Fear grips the city. Frank’s fight with cancer continues, but it’s not keeping him off the job. This killer is clever. As chemo clouds his mind, he struggles with a nagging feeling that something isn’t right. Is the killer toying with him? Will he choose justice or vengeance? His partner, Mary Ann, has her doubts, too. The leads are few and seem to be telling different stories. Her profiling skills are put to the test as she wonders if they’re chasing a single killer. Is she letting her affection for Frank cloud her judgment?

Serenity in paradise is murder
This is the first book by this author that I have listened to and I quite enjoyed it. It took me a while to work out each chapter starts with the name of who's perspective each chapter is about, as there was a number of suspects who wanted to kill Marilyn and you got a few of those reasons before she died. But as all three suspects could have done it the book kept you guessing until the end.
Luca and his partner are called to a private island to investigate the murder of a very wealthy lady. Being on an island limits who could have done it but with three very plausible suspects on hand things aren't that simple as the two partners try to find a way to cut the suspect list down to reveal the murder.
The narrator was easy to listen to.

Fast paced whodunnit
A great thriller with lots of plot twists. This was fast paced and full of cliff hangers. A murder of a wealthy heiress, Marilyn, takes place on private island. Seems like an easy enough case for Detective Luca. Not when there’s a known ex gang member thief or an arrogant, money hungry sommelier lover, or fed up husband.
The writer delivers a great depiction of the stark differences between the wealthy and the not! The hará reds are entertaining, but could be better developed. I enjoyed the wine references and while I typically like my Malbecs and Bordeaux’s there were some new mentions I’d like to try.

Great Mystery
"The Serenity Murder (A Luca Mystery #3)" by Dan Petrosini. I enjoyed this book. Some sex, greed and murder. The main character Luca kept me in suspense. A detective story which keeps moving in a fast pace. The characters of Marilyn, John and Gideon come together to make this story believable. Don't ask for what you want to happen to someone because it can become a reality.

Is This Really Serenity?
Another great "who done it" by Petrosini when Marilyn Boggs, one of county's most wealthy member is murdered in her own home on Serenity Island. The detectives are able to narrow it down to 3 people and it actually reminded me a little bit like the game Clue, I used to play as a child, but is tastefully done.
This was a fantastic book 2 (I also listened to book 1) and Peter Lerman did a good job with the narration of this book.

Not sure about this one
I listened to the first book in this series and loved it and Detective Luca. He's such a great character. He doesn't enter this book though until we are about halfway through. That's the first reason for only three stars. The second reason is the mystery. You really only have three suspects and even one of those could not have done it. The big reveal was the why and how.
I wanted more Luca...
