Of course, magic is real. Everybody knows that. Whatever. In my world magic sounds like major BS. But, when I’m accused of stealing and they’re about to arrest me, the item I took disappears from my hand as if by magic. WTF? Just like that, the Supernatural Academy swoops in and recruits me. But I don’t belong there, and everyone else agrees, including, Rowan Underwood, this rich and annoyingly handsome warlock who has it in for me. He’s investigating the theft of magical artifacts, and he thinks I’m involved.

I can't summon magic. I can't fight with my hands or my fists. I just don't belong here, and Jackson Lancaster keeps reminding me every single chance he gets. This boy is the most insufferable, intolerable, unbearable, judgmental person to ever have the right to be that gorgeous. I don’t care how sexy his British accent is, or that literally everyone else on campus adores him. He hates me, and the feeling is mutual.

There’s only one rule in the world I come from. Keep our existence a secret. Period. The day my sister broke that rule one too many times, I knew there would be consequences. I expected us to be sent to one of those schools for “troubled” kids - and maybe Daizlei Academy was, in a way. But really, it was far more complicated than that. You see, I thought that world had forgotten me. Forgotten us. For years we were left alone, and one day...we weren’t. It was only when I got there that I remembered the second rule: Trust no one.

The upheaval in my life began the moment a prince stumbled into my house and asked me to read his fortune. Any other night, I might have made an excuse to get him to leave, but this was no normal visit. My fingers prickled to touch him. So, I granted his request by handing him a single wishbone. When he snapped it, the wish...bled. Hearing me suck in a shocked breath, he asked what it meant. Such an ominous omen could only mean one thing: His death was imminent. Fate revealed that he wouldn’t die of natural causes. Someone wanted him dead.

Great read
The Seer was a great mysterious, creepy and romantic tale. The story follows Emily, who is coming into her sorcery and very fun to watch grow and develop her strengths. The story was an interesting and different take on the phantom of the opera for me, with a master and student and a slow obsession. It was well written and I look forward to more. I was given this audiobook and chose to leave this review on my own.

The Seer
Emily was taken to a witch when just a baby and given to that witch by a vampire. He entrusts her to teach her magic for she comes from a long line of witches. When Emily turns 11 the Vampire visits her to teach her. He becomes in her mind her guardian angel. Then when she turns 18 and old beau returns from three years of schooling in California. The Vampire warns her about him and when he discovers that boy has given her a talisman to protect her he takes her to the other side of the veil or the Red.
This story is extremely interesting and riveting. Clues are given as to the identity of the vampire and we learn about him as Emily learns. The narrator, Price Waldman , is excellent in his rendition of the characters.
Fantastic audio and story.

Toto, I don't think we're Kansas anymore....
When I think of witches and warlock, demons and devils; I don't think of them being in Kansas. According to A.R.Curtis this is exactly where we will find them. I attempted to review this book earlier without having the whole book (only I didn't know that at the time.). So now that I'm better informed I'm glad to tell you if I had on ruby red slippers I would have left there very fast. Our young lady has been sheltered as a form of protection. But no one bothered to tell her why she needed protection or from whom. Everyone seemed to know this secret (except her BFF and Emily) and of course they always told her to stay away from strangers. And so just like little red riding hood she finds a smooth talking Stranger and once you have spoken to some one well they Aren't Strangers anymore. Are they??? Come follow me and we'll go to the OTHER side.
