Addison Monroe took a chance on becoming a Guardian to fight alongside the forces of Heaven in the war against Hell. A girl with a dark past, she had nothing to lose...until she fell in love with Jack Bennett. Now that she's lost him too, there's nothing left for her but a mission - a cause she's truly come to believe in. With one of Hell's most notorious demons - Lilith, mother of legions - after her, she can't afford to let her personal life become a distraction.

As the war with Hell continues, Jack Bennett fights to get himself back in the game. Little does he know that returning home will only complicate matters, as nothing can ever be the same between him and the two people he cares for most in the world: his best friend, and the love of his life.

Micah Boudreaux never thought he would get stuck babysitting "the chosen one" all by himself, but without his partner, Jack, in the picture, he isn't left with much of a choice. The fact that she's a demon half-breed only reminds him of all he's lost to the side of Evil. Yet, hating her becomes difficult, as he's forced to work alongside her on a mission he's spent seven years trying to complete. He never counted on Addison stoking feelings in him that have lain dormant for so long.

It's wrong to want her. She's his best friend's girl, and has the blood of demons running through her veins. Yet, despite all of it, the demon-hunter with a complicated past will dare to hope for more. Even though life has never given him much, he will dare to hope for love...even in the midst of a dark world and a conflict he sees as unwinnable.

Any additional comments?

The war between heaven and hell is never ending. Things change from day to day. You never know what will happen or who your next battle will be with. Friend or foe.

Once again the story pulls you right in and never lets go until the last sentence. It pulls the characters (and you) though a wide variety of emotions. Regardless if you like the direction the story is taking or you wish it would unfold differently, you cannot deny that Elise Marion knows how to tell one heck of a story that is very entertaining, interesting and engaging. She blends her stories with the perfect amount of suspense, action, intrigue, mystery and steamy scenes. The twists and surprises keep coming.

You really need to read the series in order. This is not one of those series that each book is a standalone. This story picks up where the first book ended and builds on the events that took place in the first book.

Even though Addison chose to align herself with Heaven in war against Hell, she is straddling a thin line between good and evil. She could go either way. Learning who her step father may be a game changer and have lasting repercussions.

Even Guardians aren’t always perfect. No matter what they have trained/prepared for they cannot control their heart. They have feelings, heartache, joys, doubts and every other emotion. This complicates things when emotions get in the way. We have the makings of a love triangle….nooo…seriously ….even if it was only for comfort. Have I said I hate love triangles. Without Jack, Micah and Addison are left continue the fight against evil. The absence of Jack and the loss they feel from his "death" lead them to seek comfort in each other which in turns bring them closer.

Be warned this story does end in a cliffhanger. Really looking forward to the next book in the series. Definitely a series I will continue with.

Henry McNulty does a great job with the narration. Nice voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. Really good character voices. It was always easy to tell who was speaking. He was able to bring the characters and the story to life. He is the perfect narrator for this series. Very enjoyable.

Oh My Goodness! This second book in the series is just as good if not better than the first! It was awesome! I cried, I laughed, I sat on the edge of my seat... this book has it all! I absolutely can not wait for the next!!!!!

Another Winner!

In this book, our heroine is tasked with protecting the Seal of Solomon and dispatching demons back to hell. The only problem is her love was killed and she's having to figure out how to move on without him...

What she doesn't know is that he is only in purgatory. Jack is desperate to get back to her.

This is definitely a book where you can feel the raw emotions of the characters. The guilt, sadness, and love are on display. I'm interested to see where this story goes in future books! There are some twists to the book that were hard to see coming.

This would be a great book to listen to if you enjoyed the first book in the series. While some background is provided, I think it would be best to listen to it before listening to this book because the story picks up just days after the first ended.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and this one does not disappoint! I think I actually like this one even better than the first one. The story sucked me in and kept me in the edge of my seat until the cliffhanger conclusion. I hate cliffhangers but I guess I'll live... lol At least I was prepared the second time around!

The narrator did and excellent job bringing the story to life. I really like his voice and his cajun accent is awesome!

I was shocked at some of the turn of events towards the end of the book. Jack & Addison's relationship just got a lot more complicated! Micah is really growing on me too. There is action, suspense, danger, betrayal, misunderstandings, drama, and romance. It's the whole package of great paranormal romance.

I'm sooooo looking forward to the next book in this series! I can hardly wait! Hurry up please!
