Publisher's Summary

Originally published in 1910, this audiobook takes the mystery out of the accumulation of wealth and breaks it down into a scientific formula.

Here is an excerpt from the Preface of the audiobook:

This book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

It is expected that the listener will take the fundamental statements upon faith, just as he would take statements concerning a law of electrical action if they were promulgated by a Marconi or an Edison; and, taking the statements upon faith, that he will prove their truth by acting upon them without fear or hesitation. Every man or woman who does this will certainly get rich; for the science herein applied is an exact science, and failure is impossible...

...In writing this audiobook I have sacrificed all other considerations to plainness and simplicity of style, so that all might understand. The plan of action laid down herein was deduced from the conclusions of philosophy; it has been thoroughly tested, and bears the supreme test of practical experiment: It works...and if you wish to reap the fruits of their philosophies in actual practice, listen to this book and do exactly as it tells you to do.

"A useless guide to becoming Rich"

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure that anyone would get any practical, valuable advice on getting rich from reading this book. I don't even see how someone could better their position by reading this book. It keeps talking about doing things "in a certain way" and speaks in mysteries that are hard to comprehend. It has a religious, spiritual tone (and I have nothing against religion or spirituality) that is difficult to apply. I made myself listen to the whole thing so that I could at least be entitled to my opinion.

Best Book Ever Written in History: Life by Design

Love the book!! We have at least 10 copies...gave one to all my friends and family!!! The first 2 audio books could not hang...the woman voice was nail on chalk board, 2nd book sounded like a pirate with distracting theatrical music in back ground...third time was a charm....

Best Investment ever...this maybe the 10-20th (lost count) time I read this book...first time completing it audio...so excited!!

Too religious.

Did not to expect to be preached to when I purchased this book. Basically what the author says is that if you follow the teachings of God/Jesus, you'll get rich. Ugh.

Don't Waste Your Time And Money..!

The narration was good. But the matter was useless And repetitive. I don't understand why the author can be so much unethical to write this trash just to make a few bucks. Such cheaters should be BANNED or sent to a Black Hole so that they can't come back to earth.

horrible book

Would you try another book from Wallace D. Wattles and/or Brian Holsopple?

Wattles is crazy

Has The Science of Getting Rich turned you off from other books in this genre?

no but all books from the turn of the century on motivation or inspiration. Hard to believe this book and "as a man thinketh" were the basis of Napoleon Hill's "Law of Succes"

What didn’t you like about Brian Holsopple’s performance?

ok, but honestly this book clearly was hard to work with without laughing. If you want to know where all the ideas of "the Secret" came from read this book.

What character would you cut from The Science of Getting Rich?

the Author

Any additional comments?

no, except do not under any circumstances buy this book. look elsewhere!

Amazing!

This books shows how to become rich on an entirely different level. It’s as if the author was put on this earth to give this message. Read the book and you will understand!

A book to study and not just read

For this book, I decided to study it and not just read it/listen to it. So the approach is that I will set the first hour of my day to study this book. For each day, I will take one chapter and listen to the same chapter 5 to 6 times. I also have the ebook and I was following the text with my eyes while I was listening. I then spend some time to write notes of what I understood from the chapter. I must say that this book is deep and require to be carefully studied. I have reconfirmed some ideas that I already had and helped me to structure my process. I highly recommend it if you are into contemplating. I would rename this book to "The process of thinking and acting to get rich"

Awesome narration of an all time great book

If you could sum up The Science of Getting Rich in three words, what would they be?

This book is an awesome book and an all time great however you'll not really get what he is saying if you're not at least in the process of spiritual awakening. When you read this book purely from the ego you will not really get the message, even if you think you did. I read it twice previously and thought I understood its contents. But I have been doing some work on spiritual awakening lately with meditation etc. and when I read the book again I was blown away with how different the message was compared to how I saw it before.

What does Brian Holsopple bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Brilliant narrator. I actually had another audible audio version of this book gotten years ago but had to get this one again by Brian Holsopple because of his brilliant narration of another book - As A Man Thinketh.

Any additional comments?

IMO the book's message only opens up to you after spiritually awakening or when you're at least in the process of spiritual awakening and now able to differentiate your real self from your ego.

High level philosophy only

It only offers high level philosophy on getting rich but lacks any practical tips. It's similar to saying that the golden rule of success is hard work but then offer no detailed techniques on the topic.

Expected more.

After listening to many biz and marketing books, many known classics and the others that gravitate onto your library selection...this didn't live up to it's title. Always good to learn, just expected more.

Mindset is key to success in all areas of life

Great listen with interesting points, just shows how a mindset change alters the way we think and see the world. e.g the concept of becoming rich to fulfil ones potential and give more to others is amazing and a great and positive way to look at it.

Not recommended

Repetitive, lacking substance, a poor buy. Quasi religious dogma. Totally out dated text; this will not make anybody rich, but they may die of boredom.

Life-changing

This book remains perhaps the most influential piece of work on my life. The narration on this version by Brian Holsopple is also very even, well-paced and thought-inspiring.

This is the one and only tool to get rich. There is no other to be added and would be wicked to take anything away from it.

Where are the actionable tips?

Listened to the whole thing and it just said have faith you will get rich, have gratitude, do as much as you can in a day... that’s it. Not ground breaking. I find it strange that this book is recommended by so many successful entrepreneurs. Lucky it was only 2 hours of my life. It’s also very repetitive.

This works!

Have read the book too many times to mention. Tried listening to the 'free' audio versions on YouTube. Finally forked out pennies for a professionaly narrated version - minus the annoying YouTube ads! Love it (and YES The SOGR is working for me just like Wattles insisted it would - because I am working the science in the certain way.)
