Publisher's summary

Former lawman Mex Anderson is trying to cope with the horrific murders of his family as best he can. Moving from his small Mexican town to the snowy mountains of Colorado has helped, however it seems nothing can ever take away the gut-wrenching pain of his loss.

When the head of the drug cartel responsible for the killings approaches him with an offer that would reveal the individuals behind the murders, it might lead to the one thing that would allow Mex to heal: revenge.

The Sacrifice: a novel of guilt and redemption that proves there is always hope for tomorrow even in the midst of unconscionable evil.

The Sacrifice is hot!!

Peg Brantley is an amazing writer! This story was an intense roller coaster of the main character's emotional agony and intrigue of the case he's working kept me glued to my Kindle until the very last word. The twist and turns in the relationships and bazzare locations only adds to the drama and suspense. I am excited to read another book by her. She is definitely one of my new favorite authors.

The first Mex Anderson thriller

The Sacrifice is a rock solid suspense mystery. I wish I had listened to it before Trafficked, the second Mex Anderson thriller. Trafficked is a better novel easily earning 5 stars, but it can be painful to read or listen to due to the topic. With The Sacrifice and Trafficked author Peg Brantley has written two excellent suspense mystery/thrillers demonstrating that she is a rising star of the genre. I look forward to her future novels.

Engaging and suspenseful

Brantley tends to gloss over some rather important details in her stories and that's true in this story. On the other hand, she dwells a bit too long on some things such as Mex's depression. Overall, this is an engaging, suspenseful story and I like Mex.

Nick J. Russo performs well and is a good choice as Mex. He attempts to give distinctive voices to the characters and succeeds most of the time.

Nothing much interesting.

What was most disappointing about Peg Brantley’s story?

The book didn't have anything unique or much of anything going for it. Pretty formula storyline, bland characters and predictable twists. It didn't grip my attention and I listened to it like doing a chore. There are sub-stories in it, like a side plot, which gets abruptly abandoned. By the time the book reached its final chapters, I was praying for it to end.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration was alright, No complain there.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, boredom.

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.
