Publisher's Summary

"As good as the source material—if not better! I loved this story and hardly breathed as I read it straight through."
—Hugh Howey, author of Wool

This story is set in Hugh Howey's world of Wool.

Time is running out. As the Great Flood threatens to consume the silo, Ace and a team of divers are in a desperate battle to avert disaster. When a terrible accident destroys the person he cares about most, Ace has little left to live for. After nearly succumbing to the silo's flooded depths, Ace realizes that drastic measures must be taken in order to save their underground home. But those in charge deem his ideas too dangerous, his methods too forbidden, and he is shunned for his sin of toxic words.

When an opportunity for redemption presents itself, Ace has only one question: Why should he fight to save these people, if they aren't willing to help themselves?

Please note: The Runner contains plot elements found in Hugh Howey's Wool Omnibus (Wool 1 - 5).

Very impressive addition to Howey's Wool universe!

If you could sum up The Runner in three words, what would they be?

Three words? C'mon!

Hugh Howey's rave review of this FanFic story was really what made me take a serious look at it.

It was actually so well written that after I completed it and then read Howey's latest addition to the original series, I half expected references to The Runner to show up!! It really is that good.

Chris Patton's read was exceptional! He is clearly a true actor, not just someone reading the story out loud. His portrayal of the characters really brought them to life, and I really appreciated his pacing (there's nothing worse than a read that's so slow it causes the story to drag!)

Highly recommended for any fan of WOOL!! And at such a low price, it's a no-brainer! You won't regret it.

Nice try but falls short

I never got the point. What is the message here? In my opinion this story adds nothing new or even interesting to the "Silo" universe.

Short but good start to this series.

While this was a short story, it has created a desire to read/listen to more of this series. I would like to find out how they got stuck living in the silo as well as gaining more insight into the world of this story as well as the various characters. Not to mention what happens/happened to Ace.

This story deserves a follow-up

I enjoyed having another story about a silo community. Without giving away any spoilers , I think this story is worth listening to and deserves to have a follow-up telling about what happens to the unknown observers of Ace's final act.

It explains some things

You can't really say that you "enjoy" the "Wool" stories. But I was entertained & I'm glad that I read it.

A great addition to the Wool trilogy. Almost forgot it wasn't Hugh writing this. Mr Davies I want more. 😀

Great

I really enjoyed this...I read Wool years ago and forgot how good an idea it is. I'll be looking for more, similar stories, either by Hugh Howey or others!

not bad, but overly dramatic voice actor

the story doesn't feel all that unique, but a nice effort to expand on the original story. let down somewhat by the voice actor's overly dramatic delivery the entire story through
