Publisher's summary

2017 Rainbow Award runner-up

Maxine Saddler has never been in love. She knows exactly what it looks like. She’s spent years studying the phenomenon in other people, but her Asperger syndrome makes it far too anxiety-provoking to attempt such a thing in her own life. Instead, she focuses exclusively on academics.

She’s 23 years old, starting grad school, and perfectly content to ignore the world beyond her textbooks. That is, until she meets Ruby Satterwhite, who makes Max want to give love one more shot.

Ruby is the consummate social butterfly - sorority president, extracurricular list a mile long, and stunning to boot. In short, she’s way out of Max’s league, and on top of it all, she kind of hates Max for how she blurts out whatever’s on her mind, no matter how blunt.

But when they’re thrown grudgingly together for a group project in their first class, the heavens open up and the sparks begin to fly. There's only one problem - Ruby’s still pining for her perfect ex-girlfriend.

It’s time to turn on the charm like never before, but can Max master the rules of love?

Praise for The Rules of Love:

"I love the two main characters with all my heart. I rooted for them the entire way through. A unique and delightful love story." (2017 Rainbow Awards judges panel)

Loved it!

I forgot just how much fun this book was when I first read it. There was enough angst, heat and attraction between Ruby & Maxine that you couldn’t help but root for them... it was also wonderful to put voiced to these characters with this audiobook version...The Narrator Teri Clark Linden did a great job with it! It’s definitely an opposites attract and gives the listener a HEA. Bravo to both the Author and Narrator 👏

Romance in Graduate School

Max is doing a double major in graduate school and concentrated on her studies. Then Ruby walks into her life like a goddess. A story of working through misunderstandings and new beginnings. Erotic romance and story. The presenter is absolutely perfect and I’d love to have the rest of the series in Audible with the same voice. Recommend author and series.

Loved this book!

I read this book last year and loved it! Listening to this story took it to another level. I fell in love with Max and Ruby. I was rooting for this couple and became invested in the outcome. I have a child with Aspergers and saw my child in Max’s way of seeing the world. I laughed and also shed some tears-although they were mostly tears of joy. The narration was outstanding!! Highly recommend!!

Sweet journey...

Very interesting journey for two women, Ruby and Max, in Cara Malone's The Rules of Love. It's refreshing to empathize with a character who feels socially isolated, and especially, with a completely unwitting knowledge of the other's intention in the matters of the heart. Easy listening narration of each character by Teri Clark Linden.

Disliking Ruby

Ruby is the first character in a book that I seriously disliked. She’s still obsessed with her ex and just using Max. She knows Max has strong feelings for her and hurts her anyway. And I felt upset on Max’s behalf with her struggle to cope with the turmoil while experiencing the effects of her autism.

I had planned to listen to the series, but after this i could see that the rest of the books would be following the same trend. With Max put down at every opportunity and Ruby not able to make up her mind.

Sorry, just my opinion, but i was really disappointed.
