Publisher's summary

If you had the chance to go through a portal for a chance at wealth, fame, and loot... would you do it?

Matthew's life takes a crazy turn when a simple holiday visit turns into a crazy adventure. Swapping his marketing desk for an unexpected inheritance—the bookstore left behind by his uncle—he's led to a hidden portal. This isn't just any portal; it leads to a realm. A new world of dungeons, quests, and game-like mechanics.

Matthew emerges on the other side to find himself not only in the realm of Dunnishire but also as a Royal Duke in the land of Inneshys. As he navigates courtly life, he inadvertently sets off ripples that threaten to disrupt the delicate balance in the new world.

Running the bookstore on Earth proves to be just the beginning of his trouble as he faces the reality of two worlds that try to control him. Dive into a story of intrigue, romance, and self-realization as Matthew takes a leap of faith, ready to reshape his destiny and master a game of two worlds.

The Royal Duke is a progression fantasy with grownups who act like grownups. They drink, they swear, they make bad jokes, and they fall in love. What's not in this book? Sex scenes. Graphic or otherwise. There are plenty of jokes and innuendo about it, however.

Not a bad start.

This book was a great start to a new series. It’s a bit different than your typical slice-of-life portal series. The only issue I had was how unrealistic it was that this had been going on for so long and no one thought to bring things like weapons and food ideas over. I hope that this anomaly can be explained in the next book.

Great start to a new series

Fantastic spin on portal fantasy. Instead of truckkun Isekai, you'rlve found a family business.

Harem in disguise at the end.

A reasonably interesting book as long as you like the MC to always be the best at everything. it was definitely an interesting premise. And there's room for some interesting ideas. The biggest letdown for me was Sad. there are more sexual elements than expected that will definitely turn into a harem.

solid 4 stars. A good start to a peculiar genre

the genre can be formulaic and predictable but the author kept the OP character within reasonable-ish and the harem clean-ish. I would say it is a solid and respectable entrance into the genre.

very current with excellent delivery

A new twist on D&D novels. This is NOT the sanitized children's stories like most all FR an GH books. This book is adult themed
I belly laughed, snickered, shook my head.
I was quickly invested and wanting more.
