Jane Seymour and the quirky staff of The Roche Hotel are back for another hilarious season of this Tudorific romantic comedy. Thanks to Jane's no-nonsense practicality, the struggling hotel is on its way to becoming a thriving business. Henry, the donut guy, has won her over with his delicious pastries and irresistible charm. Even her ailing mother has found a new love. Life is sweet until a new assistant manager is hired...who just happens to be Jane's meddling sleazeball of an ex-husband. How will Jane keep the peace and prevent the hotel from going under without losing her mind?

This collection of "episodes" of going on at the moderate, average, three-star hotel.

Each episode has a mini story line that is wrapped up before the episode is completed. There is also a long-running plot [or story] throughout all of the episodes that come to a climax and close at the very end.

There are a wonderful array of characters including Jane, who tells the story. The author states that these stories are inspired from her experience working in a small Kentucky hotel, years ago.

I was not really excited about listening to this book, but *I agreed listen in exchange for my unbiased review. I kept putting it off and putting it off and one night I finally said. 'Okay, let's get this over with.

Wow! I was so wrong to think anything negative about this book. It is smart, funny and easy to listen to. I actually snickered a couple of times, (I rarely laugh out loud) so this should speak volumes, it was very funny. It was a bit over-the-top at times (very few) but was extremely well written and I was sorry when it ended.

Angie Hickman performed masterfully with a huge variety of characters. Well done!

Notes: No warnings here, a few scenarios where they hint at what might've gone on in the boudoir. This book is one that can be read by a grandmother and passed down to her daughter, who passes it along to her daughter, etc.

It is really enjoyable without all the expletives and graphic descriptions of relationships. Refreshing… If you are looking for a lighthearted, chic lit book that is clean and funny – I really think you will enjoy this book.

This would receive a rating of PG

Overall 4 stars, performance 4 stars & story 4 stars.

I enjoy leaving reviews, as I know that I read them the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about this book, would you please select yes directly below this paragraph? Thank you so much.

Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by authors that I am faithful to. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. Thanks!

I Misjudged This Book- Deserves 4 Stars I've Given

I will preface the whole review by writing that I did not listen to previous episodes of this series. From the get go I was totally lost. No, not because I'm blonde but because it seemed as though the story picked up immediately after the last episode. However, I will give my thoughts on this. I am not totally convinced that this is an adult series. The dialogue did feel juvenile although there were adult problems such as career and divorce. I did not have any laugh out loud moments during the book and only had the extreme reaction of, "when will this be over".
I had no prior knowledge of any of the characters and their relationships so I can't say that the scenes were all that enjoyable although the scene with the boa constrictor and a drunk Mrs. Roche does spring to mind. For this reason alone I won't be reading subsequent episodes of this series. My reasonings for the review have more to do with the fact that I really don't know much about the author or story than anything else.
I will have to say that the narrator did an excellent job and may have contributed to my withstanding the audiobook.

I was given a copy of this audiobook from audiobookblast in exchange for an honest review.

Did Angie Hickman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Jane had me at her Star Trek q-tip reference! The characters were unique and fun, except for Nick, who was the perfect slimeball. The narrator's voice really brought each character to life. Her conversational voice works well for this story.

Any additional comments?

Short and Sweet Story!

Jane Seymour is settling into her new life working at the Roche Hotel and seeing her paramour Henry. When a boa constrictor goes missing in the hotel, Jane comes to the rescue and helps wrangle the runaway reptile back to its cage. How ironic that another snake her ex-husband Nick shows up!

This adorable series just keeps getting better! Humor is still the main ingredient, but there’s plenty of angst as Jane must make up her mind whether to take her relationship with Henry to the next level and how to make it clear to Nick there’s not a snowball's chance in hell they’ll ever get back together again.

Here’s hoping this series goes on forever. This audiobook was received in exchange for an unbiased review!
