Well written overall

The story is wonderful. I suppose I have a personal trigger where a mom constantly is on her daughter about losing weight. The passive aggressive ways it’s done in the book made me want to reach inside and slap the mom and the main character for constantly taking that treatment. I can handle a little bit of stuff like that, but this book has a LOT of it,

I need a #2!! But, can’t stand him being called unhandsome. 😫 I had him pictures so ugly. 🫣

Fantastic debut by a very skilled author!

I absolutely ADORED Ms. Peterson's debut novel. Her ease with dialog kept the story flowing and the emotion at the forefront of her writing. The family relationships were so relatable -- and the grandmother was a bit of pure joy! Especially her quotes at the start of every chapter. I laughed out loud more than once (and I rarely do that!)

The narrator was also excellent. Her voices for the characters were rock-solid and easy to listen to.

I cannot wait for the next book Ms. Peterson writes!
