Publisher's summary

When a tornado rips through Montgomery Estate Vineyard, it not only destroys some of Lucie Montgomery's newest grapevines, it also unearths an old grave. After the dead man is identified as a former business associate of Lucie's father, it seems everyone in Lucie's hometown has already decided Leland Montgomery is a murderer. As the evidence piles up against him, Lucie sets out to prove her father's innocence.

Meanwhile, Lucie has given permission to a group of Civil War re-enactors to recreate a local battle on her farm. But when one of the re-enactors is shot with live ammunition, Lucie wonders whether it was an accident or an attempt at murder.

It was ok

I was a bit disappointed that there was not resolution but it was ok. I'll still get the next one in the series.

bll

Thoroughly enjoyed the author's story line, characters, and Ms. Marshall's narration. The combination of the two held my attention and desire to get back to it when other things pulled me away. Also, Ms. Marshall's variety of voices were distinguishable and beautifully interpreted.

Narrator poor

I listen to many Audible books. This was the first I had difficulty following due to the narrator sing song narration. The characters did not have strong personalities and were flat.

A mystery to the end.

The period reenactment was an interesting way to draw in the historical filler. The narrator was calming and easy to listen to.

Not A Clean Cozy

Not a book for a Christian. Instead of just saying damn, the author chose to take God’s name in vain.
The narrator’s Southern accent is overdone.

Ewww

The misogyny, racism, and emotional abuse are not charming. And the narrator’s nasal voice is uncomfortable to listen to.

I narrator’s “accent” was insufferable

I think it’s safe to say that the narrator has never been to louden county Virginia. The fake, syrupy accent was horrific. Other than that, the story was so so. Not very engaging and definitely not suspenseful
