Publisher's Summary

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent children. They are charming, and resourceful, and have pleasant facial features. Unfortunately, they are exceptionally unlucky.

In the first two books alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, a large brass reading lamp, a long knife, and a terrible odor.

In the tradition of great storytellers, from Dickens to Dahl, comes an exquisitely dark comedy that is both literary and irreverent, hilarious and deftly crafted. Never before has a tale of three likeable and unfortunate children been quite so enchanting, or quite so uproariously unhappy.

Woah

So these are great books and I love them dearly, but I have never appreciated them half so much as I do when hearing them read by Tim Curry. Curry's Olaf (or, if you like, Stephano) may well give me nightmares into my 80s. His reading of Snicket brought me to laughter and his Beaudelaire orphans very nearly brought me to tears. This, as I said, a wonderful book, but Tim Curry's reading of it makes it at least twice as good.

My favorite in the series (so far)

So far I've read through book 9 and this has been my favorite. This part of the story really engages the reader and leaves you excited to see what happens next.

Tim Currys reading is icing on the cake.

Tim Curry and Lemony Snicket = brilliant

such a great story to listen to! Tim Curry does a brilliant job narrating. the story is dark and humorous, and curry captures it perfectly.

What a series!

Tim Curry is brilliant as the narrator. His phrasing and interpretation are spot on and absolutely hilarious. Mr. Curry doesn't get in the way of the material, he brings the written word to a new level, the personification of the characters themselves.
I'm so glad I found this series. I suffer from a very rare and deadly autoimmune disease and some days I'm too sick to get out of bed much. These stories are so enriching, hysterical, and thought provoking that I feel my quality of life has improved.
Thank you to the author, Tim, and Audible for making rough, bad days into good ones.
Thank you.

Something to enjoy over and over

I have happily listened to this book at least four times. This series is one of those that you can turn on for kids and they love listening to it over and over.

Narration

I didn’t think I’d like the Tim curry narration but it’s much better than the actual author
