As the battered earth reels under judgments from heaven, Global Community leader Nicolae Carpathia tightens the screws on anyone who refuses to proclaim total allegiance to him. He has a million of his enemies just where he wants them: massed at Petra and within striking distance of devastating firepower. Meanwhile, the Tribulation Force is compromised, forcing Rayford Steele, Buck Williams, and the others to run for their lives.

This tenth novel in the best-selling series of all time sends the world hurtling toward Armageddon, the apocalyptic battle between good and evil.

The narrator on the previous two books almost ruined the series, however we now have returned to the much better narrator/reader. With one MAJOR exception. The reader of the previous two books pronounced Zion, “ZEE OHN”….WHAT? NOW, the current reader is pronouncing it ZEE OHN. COME ON!
The first seven books it was pronounced properly. I don’t mind a mispronounced word every now and then. But to mangle a name is frustrating.

How do you say “Zion?”

As many others noted the last few books had a different narrator. I have heard this reader before. He read The Green Mile and did a magnificent job. Everything I’ve ever heard him in was wonderful, except these books. He just didn’t get in the jive. I know he’s won many awards for his narrating but in my opinion for some reason he was way off.

The story finally gets rolling at a decent pace here but still kind of bloated for what seems to be just page filler material.

A good installment

This one’s pacing plodded more than probably any book in the series so far. In terms of the timeline, about half of the tribulation passed in this book, most of it within the last quarter of the book, and barely anything happened in terms of plot. The judgments were of course mentioned, but they were barely after thoughts without any real stakes. I remember reading the Indwelling, where the entire book took place over the course of mere days; for a series of 12 books I would’ve thought that key events would be played out with better spacing in between.

Poor pacing

If you keep in mind that this is fiction based on the Bible you will have the right frame of reference. While a lot of the story does have ties back into the Bible it does not intend on replacing it. Its an easy place for some to "get the bug" for faith although ultimately they need to be pointed to the only true authoritative source, the Bible.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series and recommended it to many friends. Unlike the movies, I found the books well done, and well produced.

Would you try another book from Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins and/or Richard Ferrone?

Yes, really love the series. i've been binge listening for 3 weeks now. Excellent writing. Of the 12 books, this one was the "slowest" and I found myself not listening sometimes.

What did you like best about this story?

Any time the story centers on the antichrist or BenJuda I love it. This story was far too long on the rescue of one of the trib force.

What three words best describe Richard Ferrone’s voice?

Strong, commanding, professional.

Could you see The Remnant being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Would love for the whole series to be remade into a TV series. I know another was made in the 70's but it lacked the professionalism of the writing in these books.

Any additional comments?

Very disappointed this 1 book of the series was read by a different narrator. Richard is a good reader, but I've come to love the voices that ,Jack, the narrator of the other 11 books. Kinda like watching a TV show and they switch people playing charactors 1/2 way thru, its just not the same. Glad Jack is back for the final 2.

Love this Series, but why the new reader?

Used a lot of scripture to back up everything and that’s what I loved! Thank you Jesus

Thanks for bringing back Ferrone. Although he has now pronounced Zion like the last 2 books. Oh well. I enjoy his narration.

I don’t even agree with the eschatology and I enjoy this series. Gripping. Glad original narrator is back.
