Publisher's Summary

The first investigation into why a ring of senior Washington officials went rogue to derail the election and the presidency of Donald Trump.

There was nothing normal about the 2016 presidential election, not when senior US officials were turning the surveillance powers of the federal government - designed to stop terrorist attacks - against the Republican presidential team. These were the ruthless tactics of a Soviet-style police state, not a democratic republic.

The Red Thread asks the simple question: Why? What is it that motivated these anti-Trump conspirators from inside and around the Obama administration and Clinton networks to depart so drastically from “politics as usual” to participate in a seditious effort to overturn an election?

Finding clues in an array of sources, Diana West uses her trademark investigative skills, honed in her dazzling work American Betrayal, to construct a fascinating series of ideological profiles of well-known but little-understood anti-Trump actors, from James Comey to Christopher Steele to Nellie Ohr and the rest of the Fusion GPS team; from John Brennan to the numerous Clintonistas still patrolling the Washington Swamp after all these years, and more.

Once, we knew these officials by august titles and reputation; after The Red Thread, listeners will recognize their multigenerational and interconnecting communist and socialist pedigrees and see them for what they really are: foot soldiers of the left, deployed to take down America’s first “America First” and most anti-communist president.

If we just give it a pull, the “red thread” is very long and very deep.

Welcome addition to "American Betrayal"!

I discovered Diana West by chance on Youtube during an interview with Stephan Moleneux, and it was a delightful exchange, so I thought I'd look up her books. I have both on audio and I listened to this one first. Now, I am almost finished with "American Betrayal", and I must say that the material in the Red Thread makes a lot more sense as I get farther and farther into the earlier work. "Red Thread" is easily understood without the background, but to shamelessly jump on the analogy bandwagon here, the Trump "blanket" turns into a complicated "tapestry" as you go farther back in time. The most impressive and intriguing aspect of both of these books is the volume of material! Just the volume alone, the references, the incredible detail of events long forgotten, is worth the read. Anyone wanting more information about the topic should get a pen and paper ready as you listen (or as you read) and follow the same literary path that Diana West has here: just fascinating, terrifying, and a very large sense of relief: that someone is "doing the work" of trying to map out the past, to see the threads of influence in our country. One of the first books I read was J. Edgar Hoover's book "Masters of Deceit", and then, in 2007, Paul Kengor's excellent book "Dupes: How America's Adversaries Have Manipulated Progressives for a Century".
I would highly recommend both of Diana West's book and I will be picking up "death of the grown up" as well. There's a whole lot to unpack in "Threads" and "Betrayal". Looking forward to it.

Excellent background on Russiagate Participants

Who could have guessed that so many instigators of the Anti-Trump Russian Collusion disinformation have ties to Russia and Communism? Diana West makes a compelling argument, based on their own words and deeds, for a systematic motivation based on Communist ideology. It is becoming harder to believe that this disruptive undermining of President Trump and the American people was not a coordinated and malicious conspiracy.

Your most dangerous enemy you refuse to see.

Diana West is the foremost researcher on Soviet infiltration into Western governments now that M. Stanton Evans has passed. In this book, she reveals the probable and likely ties that many of the anti-Trump conspirators have to the Kremlin based on their past associations with, and sometimes open praise of the Soviet Empire and its most notorious subversion arm, the KGB.

Must read. Full of details about spygate plotters

If you are following the USA's current spygate and FISA-gate scandal, this book is an absolute must-read. It is full of background details about the plotters which are seldom or never mentioned elsewhere. John Brennan's communist past is well known, but James Comey's communist influences are a lot less well known. The book also covers Hillary Clinton, Bill Browder, John Kerry, Christopher Steele, David Kramer and Nellie Ohr, along with the people who influenced them.

The book is short, however it is well worth the purchase price or well worth one credit.

Diana West does a splendid job of narrating her own book.

A must read

Diana West has thoroughly researched the connection between prominent American political activists and the Communist party. The data is hard to refute and should be read.
