Publisher's summary

One song for the dying... sung by the dead....

When the body of a young woman is discovered at the home she shared with her disabled daughter, DI Tom Janssen and his team must investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

The woman was a single mother, well regarded, and popular among the group she frequented, but she had a checkered past...a life she kept secret from those around her...a life that may, ultimately, have led to her death. Friends, past lovers, and confidants offer conflicting descriptions of the deceased...did anyone know her at all?

The team realize the daughter is missing and, away from her medication, the little girl's life hangs in the balance. Unless the team can solve a seemingly calculated murder, an innocent life will be lost....

Set within the mysterious beauty of coastal Norfolk, this fast-paced British detective novel is a dark murder mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end when the final shocking twist is revealed.

The Raven Song is the latest novel in the Hidden Norfolk series of thrillers from the million-copy best-selling British crime writer, JM Dalgliesh, the author of the Dark Yorkshire books. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross, JD Kirk, Angela Marsons, Simon McCleave, and Damien Boyd.

Another great book

Another chapter in the series that keeps you guessing until the last few chapters. I appreciate a story where the plot and ending are not apparent until the end. The character development of the primary investigators is a nice touch. It makes it easier to invest in the books. Recommended

One of my least favorites in this series

The tale seemed padded to make it long enough. And the fact there was no search in a particular place was a major flaw for the suspension of my disbelief. Moving on to the next installment with hopes of a more satisfactory experience.

How feelings can take over your world

The book was spectacular as are the ones previously. DI Janssen and his team have a case that is devastating. They have to try and put all the puzzle pieces together to try and find the outcome.

I really wanted to like this

I had just finished ‘“A Long Time Dead”, which I loved, and wanted to read something else by this author. What a disappointment! The story pushed even my willingness to suspend reality, and I will excuse a lot if the writing is good. The police came across as complete idiots. The characters were forced and they tried so hard, they came across as unlikely and unlikeable. I couldn’t wait for this book to be over. When the sequel to Long Time Dead comes out, I’ll give it a try, but I won’t be listening to any more of this series.
