Publisher's summary

At Huntington Regional Detention Center, the time has come for the four freshman pledges of the Punishment Club to complete their sentence. Their final day in the Controlled Judicial Humiliations Program will take them to the outermost limits of their endurance. They will be tested by torment and scourged with shame.

For Emma Jo and Buddy, for Peter and Cassidy, only love can temper the agony of their discipline. Only friendship can give them the strength to deliver a little justice of their own. As for the upperclassmen Sierra and Kevin—the conspirators who laid the trap that ensnared them in the Dare Dungeon—Nurse Reyes-Garcia and the Punishment Wardens of Huntington Regional Detention Center have a special plan, guaranteed to put them in their proper place and to show the world that all offenders are equal under law.

Fun Punishments!

D. A. Maddox's writing is great with fun characters I really got invested in. Lexi Evan's narration brought all these characters to life with her narration. 5 stars!

unique and well written

Thank you to the author for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The storyline of this dystopian society is inventive and imaginative, to say the least. This book pretty much picks up where we left Cassidy, Peter, Emma Jo, and Buddy. I loved that the pledges got what they deserved after what they endured in the dare dungeon. Though it didn’t happen without further humiliation and violation as they were pushed past their limits. Their shared experiences brought them closer and made them grow. D.A. Maddox’s writing skills are excellent. The storyline was written very vividly and unique. To reiterate what I said about book 3 (the first part of the pledges stories) this was not my cup of tea. Many reviewers enjoyed it and saw the punishments as bdsm and enticing. I personally did not feel the same and was turned off rather than enticed. However, the author wrote the story in such a way that I was attached to the characters. They had depth to them. I cared about them and longed to see them get free. So even not caring for the story, you can’t deny it’s magnificently written when it draws intense emotions out of you. Lexi Evans is one of my favorite narrators, and she was cast perfectly for this role. Her timing, pacing, pitch, and tone was spot on. She transitioned between each character (and POV) expertly. You could easily follow along with who’s POV she was portraying because she brilliantly made each character distinguishable. She definitely brought the book to life.
