Publisher's summary

With Behind Closed Doors, New York Times bestselling author B. A. Paris took the psychological thriller to shocking new heights. Now she’ll hold you captive with THE PRISONER—a stunning new thriller about one woman wed into a family with deadly intentions.

Amelie has always been a survivor, from losing her parents as a child in Paris to making it on her own in London. As she builds a life for herself, she is swept up into a glamorous lifestyle where she married the handsome billionaire Ned Hawthorne.

But then, Amelie wakes up in a pitch-black room, not knowing where she is. Why has she been taken? Who are her mysterious captors? And why does she soon feel safer here, imprisoned, than she had begun to feel with her husband Ned?

In the vein of Behind Closed Doors and The Therapist, multimillion-copy bestseller B. A. Paris is back with a gripping new suspense novel.

Tethered Along

Three straight days of unrelenting listening to find out what would happen. The suspense of the this story is good. The narrator has a pleasant voice enhancing my listening experience. She had good pitch and flow for all the characters. The story is told two parts-the before and after her marriage/kidnapping. I won’t give any spoilers in this review. Only that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I did have to stop myself from comparing The Prisoner to Behind Closed Doors at certain times or comparing Amelie to Closed’s heroine. It would have been nice if there was more certainty between the two characters at the end than a possible maybe. Or perhaps B.A. Paris wants us readers to choose for own liking. Not disappointed here, far from it.

BA Paris

You have now become my favorite author. I have listened to five of your books having to use my credits in audible but every single one of them has been worth it. Thank you. This story here has me mesmerized.

Better reads out there

The storyline was underwhelming. I was waiting for a big plot twist at the end but was left asking myself, "that's it?". Poorly wrapped together.

B.A. Paris has never let me down.

B.A. Paris has never let me down. I love every single book. I love the determination and how that provells every situation. B.A. Paris makes us feel we can overcome and preserve any obstacle.
The narrator was also amazing. she wasn't just reading she made you hear the story and believe she was the character, going though everything the character was going through.
I would recommend anyone looking to overcome a hard time, anyone seeking a good story teller, anyone wanting a good story.

Loved it

I enjoyed this book. It was not too suspenseful but well done. It was an “easy read” and the main character was quite like-able.

Unanswered….

This book was very entertaining. Not one chapter bored me. The Prisoner like all the other B.A. Paris books that I’ve listened to are worth every credit. She entertained me through hours of yard work. The ending would be great if this book has a sequel….. otherwise I agree the ending could be a little better. Tam

Overrated

Not as good as anticipated. The idea of the story was interesting but the execution was lacking. I also did not enjoy the narration. All the accents sounded similar.

Great ending but not her best

Enjoyed this book although it seemed to drag in some places. Not one of her psychological thrillers which I think are superb but still worth listening to.
