Publisher's Summary

In New York Times best-selling author G.A. Aiken's gripping new fantasy romance series, the Blacksmith Queen must confront armies and pretenders desperate to take her new-won crown. But with the Princess Knight at her side and a centaur warrior clan at her back, she'll risk everything for victory....

Long live the queen

Gemma Smythe dedicated her life to the glory of battle. With her fellow War Monks, she worshipped the war gods, rained destruction on her enemies, and raised the dead when the fancy took her. Until her sister Keeley became the prophesied Blacksmith Queen, and Gemma broke faith with her order to journey to the Amichai Mountain and fight by Keeley's side.

The Amichai warriors are an unruly, never-to-be-tamed lot, especially their leader-in-waiting, Quinn. But when the War Monks declare support for Gemma's ruthless youngest sister, Beatrix, the immaturity of her key ally is the least of Gemma's problems. She has to get to the grand masters, dispel their grudge against her, and persuade them to fight for Keeley and justice. If her conviction can't sway them, perhaps Quinn's irritating, irreverent, clearly unhinged ferocity will win the day....

Favorite book ever!

I love G A Aiken so much. I'm so excited for the next book and the ending was so good, she connected two of my favorite series together 😭

It was good.

so if you have listened to the dragon series, it's not the same narrator. this is super important towards the ene of the book because this narrator didn't pull off the characters at the end (trust me). If you want to enjoy the end and you have listened to the dragon series or just read most of the books READ this one first. Other that that the book (until the end) was a good listen. hopes this makes sense to the diehard G.A Akien dragon series fans.

Almost better than the first book.

I can't get into the dragon series like I do the shifters and crows but I love this spinnoff.

Getting better

This story is getting better. laugh out loud moments, which are the usual for this author. However, hopefully I'd like the narrator that usually reads for author to return. new person wasn't bad but she couldn't do the Dragons and Anwyll so .

G A Aiken has done it again!

Excellent story continuation but now I need to wait for the next one. Mia Barron does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. I can’t wait for more!

Good bit not her best book.

There were good parts but it wasn't her best. The first part dealt kinda forced. The last past seemed anti-climatic.

very funny

Loved it! my only issue with the narration was the narators choice on how to portray already exsisting characters from the other dragon books by this author. The voicing for this series and the humor is spot, however that humor is not portrayed with Anwil and her dragons. It make me nervous for the next book in this series. I truly hope this narrator takes the time to listen to the other Dragon books!!

Amazing continuation

This series is shaping up to be something special! I highly recommend it (first book is the Blacksmith Queen, this is the second). We get a bit more insight into the world and how it fits in with another series of the same author and even get to meet some of my all-time favourite characters again, (I like a good cross-over) however it is not necessary to read that series to enjoy this one. This books focus is on the continued fight for dominance in the two Queendoms and the machinations this leads to, it gives more background on the religious sects and the battle monks in particular. There is a bit of romance and loads of hilarity and gore along the way! OK, I am ready for book 3!

What?

I struggled to finish but I carried on. What a disappointment. I couldn't follow the plot.. was there one? I love Dragon kin books. The Blacksmith Queen was excellent. I should have stopped there. Sorry!
