Luke Delacroix has the reputation of a charming man-about-town in Gilded Age Washington, DC. In reality, he is secretly carrying out an ambitious agenda in Congress. His current mission is to thwart the reelection of Congressman Clyde Magruder, his only real enemy in the world.

But trouble begins when Luke meets Marianne Magruder, the congressman's only daughter, whose job as a government photographer gives her unprecedented access to sites throughout the city. Luke is captivated by Marianne's quick wit and alluring charm, leading them both into a dangerous gamble to reconcile their feelings for each other with Luke's driving passion for vital reforms in Congress.

Can their newfound love survive a political firestorm, or will three generations of family rivalry drive them apart forever?

Fantastic series conclusion

I always listen to Ms. Camden’s books in audio and Ms. Horowitz has done a fantastic narration for this series. I’ve waited a long time, with all the other fans, for Luke’s story and it did not disappoint!

As always Ms. Camden weaves in real history that sends me to Google to learn, in this case, about the early food trials and laws in our country. I vaguely remember learning about this in school, but Ms. Camden bring it to life in an interesting way making learning history fun while watching a blooming romance.

I live how Luke and Marianne hold fast to their live for each other. They fall fast and hard and believe the best about each other despite the circumstances.

Luke has been a lovable rapscallion the whole series and he shows it right up to the very end with his boyish smile. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Perfect culmination of a wonderful series

One wouldn’t think that being kept on the edge of my seat for an entire novel would be entertaining but it was. The pictures the author painted helped me visualize the places and people central to the story and I loved that reconciliation was a central theme. I wish a few more ends had been tied up, but enough were to satisfy my curiosity, and that is hard to do. The narration was excellent, barring a few mispronounced words, with a strong consistency in the character voices. Well done!

Great series!

Camden’s books are always full of interesting historical events and breakthroughs. She does a great job of making lovable characters that fight for what they believe in, fall in love, and have adventures along the way. This was a great book. I loved the whole series!

Excellent!

The story is unique. I had a hard time pulling away from it when I needed to. The reader is easy to understand with a beautiful voice. Great job.

Perfectly lovely!

With more than a nod toward Romeo and Juliet, this Historical Romance had a pitch perfect hero, a sympathetic heroine and a story filled with tension, heart-stirring romance and the fascinating historical tidbit this author is known for. One of my favorites so far this year.

Good conclusion

Good conclusion to the series, though not as good as the first two books in the series. Overall, the romance was sweet and I loved reading Luke's story.

Final story in trilogy

I enjoyed this final story in a trilogy. Each love story was different. They were sent in early 1900 Washington DC. There were unpredictable twists and turns in each of the stories. Very enjoyable.

Amazing!

This book was more than I could’ve dreamed. My husband and I listened to all the books together. I felt as if I didn’t want it to end.

A Little Different from her other books

This one was ok. Not as good as the other stories. Could have used more "spy" action.
