Publisher's Summary

Dive into this fun, sexy fake fiancé romance performed by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin!

I don't mean to just blurt it out. "Why, yes, I'm engaged!"

But once I say it to a potential client, there's only one logical thing to do - cast the role of my fake fiancé.

Easy enough. As a casting director, my job is to find the most talented players for every part, so I choose dreamy, edgy, sexy, sarcastic Reeve.

And I sign him up for one week in the role of mine.

It's not as if I'll fall for him in five nights even if we get a little cozy one night at theater. It's not as if I'll want more even after a scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library.

I can't let myself because on Friday at midnight the curtain falls on our fake romance...

Author's note : The Pretending Plot is a reimagining of my 2013 book Pretending He's Mine, which is no longer available for sale. The Pretending Plot is a fresh new take on that fake fiancé romance, now rewritten in first person, expanded from a novella to novel length and with expanded characterizations. This new version with brand-new narration is more than 60 percent new material.

A fun, sexy and flirty re-imagined version of an earlier book by Lauren Blakely. I enjoyed the original but I have to say this new book was a lot better, it has more "meat" to the story and the characters are just... so much more, I guess lol. This is a fun book with the pretend fiancé trope. I love these books because you get to feel the "falling" happening while they get to know each other and the chemistry was perfect. I really enjoyed Reeve & Sutton this time around. In the original I didn't really connect with Sutton, she was so much more likable in this book. Listening to this book was like finally getting the whole story when in the past you just got the cliffs notes before.

The narration was AMAZING!!!!!! I love Joe Arden and honestly I feel like he has really changed a lot over the last few years and I love the changes he's made. BUT I have to admit Vanessa Edwin STOLE THE SHOW with this one. She is an awesome narrator, I love her voice, loved her British accent and Love her male voice. I've been hoping to start seeing more of her in the romance audiobook world and my dreams are finally coming true ;)

Cute Fake Fiance Romance

This was an entertaining and cute fake fiance/dating romance. I found it refreshing that Sutton was a little older than Reeve and that she was the more successful of the two. I also appreciated that she was just as sexually open as Reeve and not afraid to take charge of her (or his) pleasure. Things unfolded fairly predictably, but it was still fun and very sexy, seeing things go from pretend to something more.

The story was wonderfully narrated by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin. I am a huge fan of Joe Arden, but this is only my second time hearing Vanessa Edwin. She was amazing! I was very impressed by her range and ability to switch seamlessly between accents/no accent, as well as male/female characters. I had no problem distinguishing between characters and she complemented Joe Arden so well. I will definitely be looking for more titles that she has narrated.

Note: The Pretending Plot is a re-imagining and expanded version of Lauren Blakely's Pretending He's Mine.

Pretend you're mine

This was such a fun listen. Reeve was such a great character, so full of life and positive even when life didn't go his way. Sutton is a little more buttoned up and regimented and needs someone like Reeve in her life. When Sutton makes a proposal to Reeve he can't turn her down but little did he know he would actually turn this role of a lifetime into real life in the end.

I love Joe Arden, he puts his all into whatever he is narrating and he was great as Reeve. This was my first listen to Vanessa Edwin and I loved her voice. This was a great listen from beginning to end.

I loved this book and highly recommend it.

The Pretending Plot

Sutton and Reeve
I love that they knew of each other a little before this proposal thing became something more. They really enjoyed each others company I think if they didn't it wouldn't have worked out as well as it did.
I kind of love that Reeve puts it all out there. But Sutton really doesn't know if it was all an act or if it was more.

The chemistry was off the hook and I love how unabashed they were when emotions got involved. And how explosive they become when they get their hands on each other.

I loved the narration Joe is a favorite of mine and Vanessa is awesome I want her to narrate more things because not only does she give you all of the character but her male voice is fantastic.

Good quick listen

Love the characters and also enjoyed the lack of crazy drama. It was good without being over the top with drama and craziness

I actuallly wanted more

So the first 60 seconds of Joe Arden's narration will have you sucked into this story and wanting more, more, more.
The narration was so great, the story was fun. The banter was witty, You meet some old friends again, and you'll fall in like with some new characters.

Make Believe or Real Life

I loved this full length remake. I read Caught Up In Love, what feels like years ago, so I don’t remember all the exact details but I do remember parts and I loved it. This new extended version gives you more to love.

Fun and Flirty!

The Pretending Plot (previously published as Pretending He's Mine) is the first book in the Caught Up in Love. Sutton and Reeve's story is a fun and flirty fake relationship/older woman and younger man romance/and slow burn romance. I loved their story. Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin are the perfect narrators as Sutton and Reeve. I enjoyed it.

Let's just Pretend

When you're cast in a role but your director has you confused with someone else what do you do? Well you become the other person or so you think . You hire a fake boyfriend to get the part. As the line goes what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right!!

Prepare to have a goofy smile

When you get a Lauren Blakely book, you always know that you are going to be sitting with a huge grin on your face for the whole time, she does romance and witty banter like no other.

This book was not exception, if you love a fake-fiancé trope then you are in for a treat with this one.

Narration by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin was a match made in heaven, and I hope she pairs this couple up again soon.

Wow

Loved this story of what started out as pretend and they made into real. Though Sutton often doubted whether Reeve was acting or really into her. Then with some words of wisdom, Reeve went all guns blazing and told Sutton the truth.
Narration was awesome too.

A fun read

I just found this to be a fairly lighthearted romp based on a fake relationship. I enjoyed it, a good holiday story. The Narrators were both good and the male Joe Arden had the perfect voice for the role.
