Giving Is Not Receiving - Gift Taken For Granted

I'm awestruck! Even though I'm educated and intelligent, I almost never read. I tore through this book with record breaking speed. At the fine age of 45, I expect implementing the lessons learned in this book will change my life. I have always easily attracted men. Unfortunately, I allowed them to choose me. Recent experiences with predators drove me into depths of depression and soul searching. I am so glad this book was recommended to me, and I'm eager to share the ideas and lessons with women everywhere.

So Offensive and Wrong it’s Laughable

I liked the title because I figured it would help me get over an ex or gain power. Kinda like “act like a lady think like a man”. The book is more like “act like a lady think like an overweight super confident black woman”. She admittedly learned her skills from urban high schoolers and cites rap lyrics (including the N word) in an inspirational playlist. As someone who already is an overweight super confident black woman I found her advice really stupid. Toward the end she has a chapter all about avoiding unwanted pregnancy yet ends the book with a “bonus” section on how to use men for money without giving sex (as if rape isn’t even a thing). In summary, the book is stupid. BUT I gave two stars for performance because her audio voice along with her vulgar language made me laugh.

Some good advice, some chapters are skippable

What did you like best about The Power of the Pussy? What did you like least?

The first few chapters were great ... reaffirming ideas of self-confidence, earning respect, etc. Chapters surrounding playing the game, being a super dater, having a sugar daddy ... those I skipped altogether. Those chapters were bad advice. The author encourages you to demand respect, set goals, and to not settle for the wrong guys ... but then encourages you to pay the manipulative games that men play with us. I felt that was an oxymoron in the book.

This is racist

This book is racist and uses the N-word. The white performer says the N-word and is racist. Don’t read it.

Not for me

Bottom line up front: I can see how some women might be empowered by this book, but it mostly came off as manipulative to me.

I only decided to give this book a listen in search of my own definition of what it means to be in a meaningful relationship and took everything she said as a grain of salt.

The only things I liked and found helpful/agreeable were the tangible suggestions like writing lists of qualities you have to offer and qualities you look for in a man which helped me organize my thoughts.

Date 2-4 guys at once? Girl, ain’t nobody got time for that! I’m ok being unapologetically me and I don’t do that.

A hilarious read, but take it with a grain of salt

Would you consider the audio edition of The Power of the Pussy to be better than the print version?

I have no idea, I have only listened to the audio version.

What other book might you compare The Power of the Pussy to and why?

"Why Men Love Bitches" has most of the same advice worded in different ways.

What about Alexandra Shawnee’s performance did you like?

Her voice seemed to fit well with the content of the book. She kept things interesting.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Power of the Pussy?

I like the fact that the book encourages women to move on rather than trying to change a loser. In reality, that's the best thing to do.

Any additional comments?

As I stated in the headline, you would do best to take the book with a grain of salt. A lot of the tactics that are suggested would not work well in a long term, functional relationship.

That being said, I'd still say that this book has a lot of good advice. Especially with stuff like getting over someone or using birth control. And even without that, this is truly a hilarious and entertaining read. I enjoyed the author's sense of humor and brutally honest way of writing.

Great Book!

I cringed when I saw the title, (ugggghhh not another dating book) but something inside of me urged me to give it a try. Glad I did, the book turned out to be great! Real, raunchy, straightforward and easy to digest!

A book for all the ladies

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A cousin recommended it and I have since recommended it to all my friends. Don't be misled by the title, its no porn. Men have mastered the art of charming women, women need to master the art of choosing men

What other book might you compare The Power of the Pussy to and why?

His that not into you.

Degrading for women, don't buy it

I did not even want to give one star to this book, but it would not let me rate it otherwise. Besides from the utterly annoying narrator, the author is far from being a feminist, and on her way to 'get what she wants from men" she degrades women, treats having a vagina as an asset to manipulate men, except she instead makes embarrassing suggestions - not quite appropriate for the modern women living in 21st century. She just presumes we are all basic bitches with no self esteem and nothing to speak for other than a pussy in between our legs. Really disappointed!

Entertaining

Very well written, no nonsense or boring stuff in this book. Ive listened to the entire book just in one day and it was time well spend. Beside the amazing narrator and being funny it was also very insightful. It's same concept like why men love bitches but this book is more interesting. Very much looking forward listening the second part tommorrow.

Misleading to women

Women in need of sex more than men. This is can be seen by their dresses and make up and the amount of money they spend on clothing , etc ..There are more women out there than men. Women are in more need to be mothers than men, so they are desperate to get pregnant therefore when uterus used as a game of power, it will be her losses, not his. If women apply the rules in these books, it is likely they reach menopause before they realise it is too late. Women who re not attractive are naturally disadvantaged and with your book, it is made more awkward for them.
Your book encouraging fidelity, because if the woman use the pussy for gaining power, then the man has the right to seek sex outside relationship.

Worth a listen.

This is interesting to listen to on its topic, but I have to stop short of wholehearted recommendation. While there are some good perspectives on there for general self respect, it is told in such a way that comes across as a bit bitter in parts. I can't work out why, either, there just isn't the need. She apologises in the beginning, in advance, because she feels she may offend some readers. She swears (the f*&^ word) for emphasis, when really, it would be so much more intelligent to deliver the point without doing that. I wasn't 'offended' per se, just felt she could have delivered more impact and commanded more respect without.

There are several parts to the book which come across as man-hating, even though the point of the book is apparently to find a relationship with mutual respect. There's an example given from the author's own experience, for example, when she found her date 'rude'. She left him in the restaurant and wholeheartedly recommends the reader do the same. Perhaps many would find this good advice? I found it a little immature. There are also a few occasions where she makes assumptions about women in general. As I didn't fit her mould, it suddenly didn't feel as though she was talking to me anymore.

I have listened to Evan Marc Katz and Matthew Hussey who write on the same topic. Both manage to do so without sounding petulant. Both of their books left me feeling positive and energised. Once again, this is not a total bomb, but lacks the lustre it needs to be considered really great.

don't bother

Narrator voice was so annoying. Content is outdated and sexist. A few suggestions had merit but in large I don't believe any of this advice is good for anyone to follow.

Timeless for the Empowered Feminine Woman

Reclaim your sexuality, feminine power, options and self-love through Kara King's profound How To's. Having an open mind and being courage enough to apply these principles yields wonderfully pleasing results with all men - the good and the ones you best avoided anyway. I read this book and the second book years ago and now I've bought the audio to listen and refresh, I'll also be buying the second book in audio format. Must have in any woman's toolbox whose willing to shift her romantic relationship interactions with men.

Sassy. Powerful message

The language and the way the author delivered her message is quite "raw" and straightforward. I really like her message, especially the final chapter. It reminds ladies to value our female sexual purpose as it is to bear lives, not to satisfy some guys' sexual needs. The message is powerful, valuable though sometimes appears sexist. However, if the language is toned down to neutral, if the language is not to the extreme feminist, I would have given a 5 star.

Not for young girls

I feel like this book over looks the power of a woman’s brain, personality and other parts of what makes up a woman and puts too much emphasises on the pussy. I feel like even suggesting women should get a boob job if they want to is unnecessary, what if young insecure girls listen to this book and it puts an idea in their head that plastic surgery might help them find a partner? ( it won’t)
