The perfect blend of spooky and romance

I enjoyed this so much! I’ve been on the hunt for a spooky romance that didn’t take my sleep along with it. It was a perfect balance

Just…..eh

Honestly not impressed in any way. It wasn’t scary. The female voiceover felt like AI. The story was somewhat confusing at times. An overall no for me.

Gripping

Isabel Cañas is a poetic writer. This story was gripping, heart wrenching, mysterious, amazing. Not just a love story. A story of self discovery, feminine rage, and yes love.

As seductive as silver

The voice acting and story were immediately compelling and this turned into being one of my favorite books

If you're looking for a creepy read I recommend this! It was a beautiful yet gripping storyline.

Love the Mexican American gothic

Solid vocal performances, story that centers female agency, spicy but not graphic, very good story!

The narrator's....

The story in its own genre is quite interesting. The narrators are amazing, especially the female narrator. I'd say she's the best I've heard so far after listening to hundreds of books. Kudos! I'll be looking for other books read by her.

A lot was left on the table

I think this could have been a great story if it was split into 2 or maybe even 3 books. It felt a little rushed, and perhaps it’s because I listened to the audiobook, but the story was a little confusing at times. I found myself often thinking, “Wait, how did we get here?” The story would have benefited from expanding on some topics that were crucial to the overall story. I don’t regret listening to it—it was entertaining and captured my attention but it could have been executed better.

A must read for spooky vibes, longing, chilling possession and priests. Isabel Cañas never misses, she’s a phenomenal storyteller who truly submerges you in the mountain town, its people and lore. You won’t regret it!
